About this deal

This is the beauty that is the support squadron. It's gone from being a seldom used entry to, in my opinion, a top tier selection in this book. After the Horus Heresy, and the reformation of the Imperial Army into the Imperial Navy and the Astra Militarum, the Land Speeder was no longer issued to non-Astartes soldiers, as their technology has become far too precious and complex to be risked in the hands of Imperial troops who are not the elite of Mankind. Suppressor Squad: C Tier: These are a disruption unit more than a damage-dealing unit, but they aren't durable enough for the cost, and their effect isn't all that strong.

This early version of the Land Speeder was armed with a Meltagun and a turret-mounted Multi-melta. During this edition of the game, Land Speeders were not entirely limited to the Space Marines; the Imperial Guard had their own Land Speeders. The Imperial Guard Land Speeder model was almost-identical to the Space Marine version, except for weaponry. The Imperial Guard Land Speeder was armed with a hull-mounted Heavy Bolter and a turret-mounted Plasma Cannon, then-called a "Heavy Plasma Gun". When the 2nd Edition of Warhammer 40,000 was released, Land Speeders were taken out of the Imperial Guard's army list. From this point on, they were entirely Space Marine vehicles. Librarian ( Epistolary • Codicier • Lexicanium • Primaris Librarian • Vanguard Librarian) • Chaplain ( Reclusiarch • Primaris Chaplain • Judiciar) • Apothecary ( Primaris Apothecary • Apothecary Biologis • Helix Adept) • Techmarine

The exact origins of the Land Speeder Storm is unknown; it sees extensive use by the Ultramarines and Raven Guard, along with their successors, and so is thought to be one of their inventions. Conversely, the Storm is all but unheard of within the armouries of the Space Wolves and Blood Angels. [3] Technical Specifications

Ravenwing Talonmaster Land Speeder - While Supreme Grand Masters of the Unforgiven willingly accepted Lieutenant rank, outlined in the revised Codex Astartes, within their Battle and Reserve Companies, they decided to modify the role to meet the needs of the Unforgiven’s specialised 2nd Companies. As such, the equivalent to a Lieutenant in the Ravenwing and other such companies is known as a Talonmaster. The Talonmaster is goes to battle in a modified Land Speeder outfitted with additional Auspex scanners and vox-casting mechanisms, it is a Talonmaster’s role to help direct the Ravenwing’s fire, using his equipment to ensure no quarry can hide from his battle-brothers. Some weapons have ‘Blast’ listed in their profile’s abilities. These are referred to as Blast weapons. In addition to the normal rules, the following rules apply to Blast weapons: The Land Speeders fielded by the Space Marines employ this ancient technology to skim above the ground at breathtaking speeds. They use anti-gravity repulsion plates to perform breathtaking manoeuvres that conventional vehicles would find impossible. Slightly larger than the standard Land Speeder, the Tempest carries heavier armour and weapons. To save on weight, the gunner is replaced with a slaved targeting system with the pilot's aim assisted by a Machine Spirit. Weaponry includes a fixed-forward Assault Cannon and twin-linked Missile Launchers controlled through a multi-spectral targeting surveyor. Despite the heavier armour, standard combat tactics remain the same, with Tempests flying nap-of-the-earth to avoid enemy fire. [1b] Technical SpecificationsWith Dark Angels general prevalence towards anvil units and Lone Operatives, holding objectives is fairly trivial. Jam some Deathwing Knights or a Land Raider onto the ones closest to your opponent. Hold the sides with Scouts or Infiltrators with a Phobos Librarian. Do the same on your deployment objective, or put some artillery there like Desolation Marines or Whirlwinds/Thunderfire Cannons. Need to take an objective off your opponent? Inceptors are perfectly capable of doing so with their 3″ deep strike, or charge them with the a unit that will remove them with extreme prejudice.

Whirlwind • Vindicator • Stalker • Hunter • Whirlwind Hyperios • Land Raider Helios • Thunderfire Cannon • Firestrike Servo-turret It was highly overcosted when 6th edition came out, and then was made even worse by the new jink rules forcing snapshots in 7th (meaning it completely lost it's ability to fire its blast template) Deathwing Terminator Squad • Deathwing Knights • Bladeguard Veterans ( Deathwing Bladeguard Veteran Squad) • Company Veterans • Veteran Intercessors Assault Intercessors: A Tier: The other candidate for best Battleline; unlike normal Intercessors these are better for taking objectives away from the enemy, whereas the ones with rifles are better for holding onto ones you already have. Always take a weapon upgrade on the sarge, and if you want a big unit you might consider some kind of buff character. Chaplain on Bike: S Tier: If you're running bikes, you probably want this model. Devastating Wounds is powerful on all their shooting (even if it's just bolters, you get enough shots to reliably fish for 6's). If you can get a cheeky 6 on a melta shot, that's even better! Only downside is you do have to get pretty close.

Devastator Squad: B Tier: These guys can be equipped with a variety of weapons to fulfill various roles, but are probably best used for anti-tank with Lascannons or Grav-cannons. They can ignore cover if they sit still, which is something they want to do anyway since they have Heavy weapons.
