About this deal

Contents: Kayvaan Shrike, Librarian in Phobos Armour, 10 Reivers, 2 Invictor Warsuits, 3 Eliminators, Raven Guard Transfer Sheets Included are 10 Iron Hands Legion-specific MKIV shoulder pads for use in games of Warhammer: The Horus Heresy – enough components to outfit a squad of 10 Space Marines. The components in this kit are supplied unpainted. Iron Hands MKIII Shoulder Pads: November 11th, 2022 Note that this boxed set does not contain any upgrade sprues, as the Reiver shoulder pads are different from the Intercessor pads in the upgrade set. Instead the box comes with three transfer sheets. Scions of Macragge Sanguinius is bound to be happy with those new looks. As with the other Legions, such as the Death Guard, White Scars, and Emperor’s Children, there’s also a set of moulded shoulder pads coming out – the ideal way to finish off your miniatures. World Eaters MkII Torsos: (October 7th, 2022)

Match your MkII Torsos with a set of 10 resin Crusade-era shoulder pads – great for elite units and giving your important characters a dash of veteran flair. This upgrade kit can be used to customise Legionaries from the MKVI Tactical Squad set with new heads, replacing the standard helmets with Ultramarines-specific headgear. The kit includes nine helmeted heads in three different designs, each with armour panel seams and alternative grille pattterns, as well as two heads designed for Sergeants – one bare head with noble features and a laurel wreath, and one beaked helm with an impressive transverse crest. Spread these components around your army to add some XIII Legion flavour, or outfit entire squads for an elite, unified look. Ultramarines MKVI Shoulder Pads: January 21st, 2023 For the Phobos units I will probably leave their specialist helmets alone. The Gravis units on the other hand could be in for a swap - I'm up for suggestions! Without a Primarch it was, of course, difficult for the Raven Guard to become their own force. They kept a strong bond with their Terran roots, applying war paint of Asiatic dust and keeping grey armour, as opposed to any brighter heraldry. Their proto-cognomen of the “Pale Nomads” or the “Dust Clad” was well-earned, in this regard.Overall these are not cheap, but I think they are sufficiently competitively priced to have a place in a Raven Guard army, but only as a single squad I would say, with a specific purpose. The Mor Deythan come at 135 pts for 5, with BS5, Shroud Bombs, Stealth, Scout, Implacable Advance (post-FAQ) and Fatal Strike as part of this. Note that they only come base with a Bolt Pistol and Chainsword, which is a bit disappointing. Troops – Tactical Squad – Additional CCW, Artificer Armour/Melta Bomb/Power Fist Sergeant, Rhino w/ Dozer Blade

The kit includes nine helmeted heads in three different designs, each with a sinister trench spike and industrial rivets, as well as two heads designed for Sergeants – one bare head with a rebreather, and one helm with a unique grille and imposing spike. Spread these components around your army to add some XIV Legion flavour, or outfit entire squads for an elite, unified look. After painting the main colours I always enjoy adding details to the armour. This is mostly custom warpaint, a few bits of script, and on some of the bigger models I paint some feathers. These little details always make a big difference to my Space Marines, giving them each some extra character.* Darcy: Imperial Fists This upgrade kit is comprised of 10 resin components and is designed to be assembled with Cataphractii Terminators, which are sold separately. These components require assembly and are supplied unpainted – we recommend using Citadel Colour paints. Alpha Legion MKIII Shoulder Pads: February 3rd, 2023It all starts with a base coat of Zandri Dust Spray and a heavy drybrush of Morghast Bone . Following that I use Agrax Earthshade to do a recess shade before highlighting every edge I can reach with White Scar . The model is then covered with a heavily thinned layer of Iyanden Yellow Contrast applied using the biggest brush I can fit in the pot. Once dry, I apply another White Scar highlight, only hitting the forward facing edges this time, before again drenching the model in thinned Iyanden Yellow. A last highlight of White Scar, focused on the most prominent points of the armour and a third and final layer of Iyanden Yellow finishes the job, and gives a wonderfully smooth yellow. Gadge: Mantis Warriors Even before joining their Primarch, the XIX Legion were winning hide-and-seek-and-stab championships throughout the Unification Wars. Drawn from the slaving Xeric tribes of the Asiatic Dustfields, the XIX were the Emperor’s weapon for ending wars before they began – but while the V Legion raced ahead of Imperial forces , these pale saboteurs crept into place to assassinate leaders and strike at the enemy’s soft bits. Very honourable. Using mainly an olive green and yellow colour scheme for the squad, I opted to add an accent colour of deep red, both for the Sergeant’s helmet stripe and for personal heraldry on the powerfists. As we currently don’t make transfers for the Mantis Warriors Chapter, I had to freehand the insignia and opted for the older (easier to paint) emblem – which seems perfectly fitting for 1st Company veterans of the Badab War. This upgrade kit can be used to customise Legionaries with shoulder pads bearing the draconic heraldry of the Salamanders Legion. The kit includes 10 shoulder pads, each bearing a raised, sculpted icon that makes them simple to paint in the Legion’s signature colours, with a studded rim design appropriate to MKII ‘Crusade Armour’. Spread these components around your army and combine them with transfers to capture that signature XVIII Legion aesthetic, or outfit entire squads for an elite, unified look. Word Bearers MKII Shoulder Pads: January 6th, 2022

To help them stand out as more elite Space Marines I added some gold, but kept it quite muted by using Liberator Gold. For cloaks and tabards I used Dark Reaper . I also couldn’t resist scattering a few beaky helms around the rest of the miniatures as they are so iconic for the Raven Guard Chapter. So if anyone has any idas or examples they would like to share, I would be very grateful - thank you! I had great fun painting this, working in three pieces – the body and the two arms – made it easier to get to all those hard-to-reach places. I undercoated it with Leadbelcher , as the metal areas were a bit harder to reach, with the glorious blue of the XIII Legion being added carefully after all the metal was fully painted – using Macragge Blue as a basecoat, Basilicanum Grey as a shade, and then three successive highlights of Altdorf Guard Blue , Calgar Blue , and finally Fenrisian Grey . Ed: Dark Angels Raven Guard Gravis armour shoulder pad (designed for Characters or Sergeants from Aggressors squads) What can be said about the role of the Raven Guard in the Horus Heresy? One of the Shattered Legions, they formed the tip of the spear which Rogal Dorn thrust at the heart of the Warmaster, only to have it splinter and break upon the armour of his treachery. These are, in my view, a “hidden killer” (see what I did there) – on paper they look quite expensive and maybe not that good, but in practice… well. They can absolutely blend the enemy.
