In your VoIP application, select your interface in the audio settings, noting the application may display the input device as Microphone and the output device as Speaker. Please note, that all the devices will need to be connected to a computer to set up the routing in Focusrite Control and set the sample rate. There is no iPad version of Focusrite Control, so a Mac or Windows computer must be used to do this. The combo inputs automatically switch between mic and line sources based on plug type, and the 60dB of gain handles low-level signals well. The input LEDs do the job, although there's no option to switch them to output monitoring. One minor issue: in some circumstances, the monitor mute and level can be a bit slow to respond. Focusrite say it's a software problem that'll be fixed soon in an update. It should have been one of the best for its price range except for the annoying fact that the headphone amps are shit. While the technical reality is a bit more complicated than that, as all-in-one devices like the 18i20 often make technical compromises for the sake of saving space and cutting costs, the 18i20 should still have no trouble producing high-quality files that are up to industry spec. The iPad Pro supplies enough power to bus power these interfaces, no external power/powered USB hub is required.If at any point you are lost, in the top left corner of the screen you will see File > Restore Factory Defaults. This is the setting used for the following explanations. Please ensure that you are using the most up-to-date version of your recording app (e.g. GarageBand) and have taken your Scarlett interface out of MSD mode. (More about MSD mode). The Heart of Your Studio Focusrite Control iOS cannot be used to control an interface connected to your iPad, this app is a remote for the desktop version of the software.

As well as the new Scarlett features, you’ll also get a selection of excellent software, so you can get creative right out the box: There's also a monitor level control with Mute and Dim buttons. The 18i20 uses Focusrite's Scarlett MixControl software, so although input gains are hardware-controlled, the monitor, Dim and Mute controls can be accessed via software, too. When Custom Mix is selected it will populate this screen with the output mixer for you to set the routing:
Remote Devices shows what devices can control Focusrite Control externally. Focusrite Control can be manipulated via the Focusrite Control iOS app, which can be used to sync any iOS 8.0+ device to the Focusrite Control software and control routing settings remotely. As shown below there is one iPhone and one iPad synced to the Focusrite Control software:
