Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) or chloroquine (a malaria drug) are medications used for autoimmune disease. It is widely available as a generic medication, low in cost but has potentially lethal side effects such as heart arrhythmias. The recommended dose is 200 mg twice a day for 10 days. This has been combined with the antibiotic Zithromax but has not been proven by clinical trials yet.
