About this deal

You can use different types of alcohol, such as brandy, whiskey, or cognac, to infuse the truffles with different flavors. These cake truffles were originally inspired by the popular cake truffles available in the shops around Christmas time. If you are so inclined, make a few different varieties and decorate them differently, so you know what is inside. Icing Sugar – these truffles are pretty dark and rich, so I add a little icing sugar to take the edge off all that richness.

This recipe takes 5 minutes to make in the microwave. I don’t tell anyone that I make this in the microwave. I mean seriously, it’s so easy.To be on a safe side, eat these truffles within 7 days, although their actual expiry date might be a little longer than that. Super simple and delicious, these rich and indulgent Chocolate Rum Truffles are a classic no bake Christmas treat! They make a fabulous gift for a dark chocolate lover. Make sure the cake is completely cooled before crumbling it, or the mixture might become too moist. So good, exactly what I was looking for! I’ve had these from the bakery before and loved them, so I am happy I found this easy recipe. I didn’t have sprinkles so I used skor bits! I almost added more rum, cause a couple comments said they couldn’t really taste it but I am very very happy I didn’t cause they are perfect…..If anyone is looking for a recommendation: I used captain Morgan’s spiced rum. Thank you kitchen magpie!! 🙂

Almond bark is naturally dairy-free. It is also super flexible because you can mix-in almost any type of dried fruit and nuts. Glad I found this recipe. Was looking for one that didn’t use wafers. Used Wild Turkey in mine. What I want to use I can’t get in the States anymore, Canadian Club Sherry Cask. If anybody can get it, try it and let me know how it was. Dan Cake Rum Truffles can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. They can also be frozen for up to 1 month. Thaw the truffles in the refrigerator before serving. How to store these truffles The 275g of cake is based on a shop bought Madeira cake which you can buy in most supermarkets, so if you want to double or triple your recipe, just buy 2 or 3 cakes (or bake equivalent in weight). The rum chocolate recipe can be modified to use your favorite liquor. A few of my favorite boozy truffles are: Rum – the better quality of the rum, the better your truffles will taste! A spiced rum is especially nice and feels suitably festive.

We prefer the rum balls or bourbon balls to be chewy and fudge-like, not dried out like the rum ball recipes that use nuts. Consider these to be rum brownie balls, even, to understand the texture that I am talking about. Take a peek at the photo below, you can tell that these are truly spectacular rum balls! That photo was taken right after I made them, so they are now sitting in my freezer with the flavours melding together until Christmas. The consistency will be the same as shown in the photos. You might like to use catering gloves for rolling out the chocolate truffles, but other than that, no there is nothing special you will need for this recipe. Pro tipI am an experienced baker and made the cake, as per the attached link, and it turned out so spongy and springy with very little taste. This recipe is very popular at Christmas, but I tend to make it any time I want something slightly different than just traditional chocolate truffles. The addition of cake crumbs in this rum truffle recipe is just genius, and it makes these ever so slightly addictive. Such an easy recipe! Definitely add a LOT more condensed milk and rum. I just kept adding more of both until I liked the taste and the consistency was right for rolling into balls and dipping into sprinkles. This is my first attempt making rum balls of any kind. I used my normal depression cake recipe which uses 3 cups of flour. Doubled the amount of rum and still may need to increase it (maybe I need stronger rum?), left the sweetened condensed milk the same. Next time, I’ll use my KitchenAide stand mixer instead of mixing by hand!

Using your catering gloves again, take about a large teaspoon of the mixture together and form a ball. Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the chocolate chips. Stir until all the chocolate has melted and the mixture is smooth. Dark chocolate – the best quality you can find. I would recommend using a chocolate with between 50-70% cocoa solids. They would make a fabulous homemade Christmas gift and are incredibly easy to make – all you need is six ingredients! These rum balls freeze exceptionally well and are better after sitting for a while in a container. I make these a few weeks before Christmas and then freeze them until the big day. Add the vanilla extract and the pinch of salt to the cream mixture and blend in. When nearly cold, add the rum or rum essence and then add into the cake crumbs and mix well till evenly combined. You only need 4 ingredients to make these easy boozy truffles. This homemade rum truffle recipe is easy and even fun to make. Making these Christmas truffles is one of my holiday traditions. Making these easy boozy truffles at home If you want to, you can also leave out the rum if you are making these with children or use rum essence (you’ll need about one teaspoon, depending on the strength of your essence). The rum can be swapped for any other alcohol, but flavour wise rum seems to work well with chocolate. Vegan Dan Cake Rum Truffles can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. They can also be frozen for up to 1 month. Thaw the truffles in the refrigerator before serving. Tips:
