About this deal

One thing I’ve learned is that neurodivergent people are incredibly sensitive. I don’t mean that in the way society does, as some kind of negative, some kind of too-much-ness—I mean it in the best way. The neurodivergent people I know are really connected to themselves and those around them, so when one of them starts crying, I genuinely wonder where I’ve gone wrong. Delicious and devious. Bose takes a scalpel to suburban family life, expertly drilling down through the Insta-perfect surface to its dark, messy core. I loved it' Tammy Cohen, The Wedding Party One thing you have to understand when reading this is that it's not meant to be a scientific journal or a medical textbook. However if you want an introduction to the basics of ADHD- perhaps you're questioning whether an ADHD diagnosis fits you, or you're looking for some tips for common ADHD symptoms- then this is a good book to start with.

I’m also confused by the first line of the Goodreads description: “A twisty, domestic suspense debut about a clique of mothers that shatters when one of their own is murdered, bringing chaos to their curated lives.” We already talked about the genre, but the death is also the end of the story. We don’t see any of the “chaos” brought into their lives, no police investigation, nor any fallout of the death at all.Extraordinary! Absolutely compelling, original and intriguing. Domestic noir at its very finest' Liz Nugent, Unraveling Oliver Then Ciara is found murdered in her own pristine home, and the house of cards she’d worked so hard to build comes crumbling down. Everyone seems to have something to gain from Ciara’s death, so if they don’t want the blame, it may be the perfect time to air their enemies’ dirty laundry. And there’s earth mother Lauren Doyle, born, bred, and the butt of jokes in their village. With her disheveled partner and children who run naked in the yard, they’re mostly a happy lot, though unsurprisingly ostracized for being the singular dysfunction in Ciara’s immaculate world. When Lauren finds an unlikely ally in Mishti, she decides that her days of ridicule are over.

This book is part autobiographical account of how ADHD has specifically affected the authors and their relationship/s, part self-help. I found it incredibly useful and I'll be handing it over to my husband to read next.I know that the author mentioned that it's her symptoms and everybody is different. At the same time I would appreciate some statistics and information regarding how many people actually struggle with things in such an extreme manner. I don't doubt that this book will help a lot of people with ADHD, but for myself (diagnosed with ADHD) and my boyfriend (who wants to understand my diagnosis) this book was just a bit boring and repetitive. I liked that these mom's each bring something different to the friendship circle, so that was nice that they each have their own personality, but that's not to say they have a great one. Rox and Rich- Thank you so so much for this. Not only for what it has provided me with, but also for the understanding and compassion it will bring to others. Ciara has it all - a loving husband, well-behaved children and an immaculate home. But behind the filters, her reality is far from what it seems.
