About this deal

With the 1Gbps connection I get 900/675 Mbps with my laptop directly connected to the edgerouter. But I think I might be at the point where just the upload capabilities of my laptop are not up to higher speeds. So, overall, the EdgeRouter X has been improved with every new software update and, while it’s not the next best thing since sliced bread, it does a lot of things right, while offering a lot more for its money than the large majority of routers from the market. Through the web interface, Network --> Firewall, "Software flow offloading, which will then allow you to enable "Hardware flow offloading". All other setting are unchanged/defaults. On the front of the device, you can find the five 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports: eth0/PoE IN (supports 24V passive PoE and it is an alternative method of powering the device, instead of using the power adapter), eth1, eth2, eth3 and eth4/PoE OUT (supports passive PoE passthrough). The ports of the EdgeRouter X are actually interfaces and, by default, you get this setup: eth0 is WAN, while eth1 to eth4 act as LAN and switched. But, the beauty of this device is that you can configure any port to act as WAN, while any other port can act as LAN or you can create a dual-wan system for load-balancing (e.g. 2 WAN + 1 LAN). The router can also be configured to work solely as a managed switch. OpenWRT: OpenWRT CPU "33% idle", root@OpenWrt:~# iperf -c 10.1.1.30 -t 60 -P 4, [SUM] 0.0-60.1 sec 6.37 GBytes 911 Mbits/sec Now the EdgeRouter can do a lot more than SQM alone, but for normal use, this is one of the most important options. EdgeRouter X SFP I’ve asked KPN to set me up with an 1 Gbps connection so I can see whether all settings internally are setup to profit maximum from the available bandwith. If the speed of 2 is lower then 1, replace the cable between the router and switch (or test the computer with the cable from the switch) Do you have SQM enable on the EdgeRouter? Because this will lower the throughput of the Edgerouter to the number you now have. So I don’t think the AP is limiting the throughput. But it might be some settings in my Edgerouter. Is there a good tutorial on how to setup the edgerouter and its firewall? I want a safe network, but not 70% of the capacity I paid for being limited by some setting I missed. Figured I would do a little write up on my adventures with a Ubiquiti EdgeRouter X and OpenWRT (18.06.1, r7258-5eb055306f).

ERX ERX

Some things I noticed right away, since I’ve only been using this new setup with the USG for a a day now. I keep feeling frustrated that the CloudKey/Unify Controller software doesn’t recognise the concept of EdgeRouter devices (although UNMS does but that doesn’t really like UniFi much). The moment I change the USG to some home router(TP link, Tenda, Dlink), the lenovo will immediatley geet the IP and wil connect to the network-internet.At this point I have everything up and running and I am very happy to have internet up. New hardware is in play, but how fast is it? speedtest(dot)net puts my connection around 550/400 down/up, and the CPU on my ERX drops to less than 5% idle. I know my Centurylink(dot)net 1Gbps fiber connection can do 930/930. Lets look at what iperf says, for local traffic: OpenWRT: OpenWRT CPU "45% idle", root@OpenWrt:~# iperf -c 10.1.1.30 -t 60 -P 1, [ 8] 0.0-60.0 sec 5.77 GBytes 825 Mbits/sec Working in tandem with our claims switching service, eRx Edit is a comprehensive pharmacy claim solution designed to increase third-party reimbursements and improve in-store productivity. Our best-in-class infrastructure and technology lead the pharmacy transaction processing industry with two fully-live, independent, and geographically-diverse data centers for unmatched reliability. When I look in the EdgeRouter configuration, I see two policies for ‘traffic-control / optimized-queue:

Advanced Gigabit Ethernet Router - Ubiquiti

The Routing tab displays the status of the Static, Connected, RIP and OSPF routes and, by accessing the OSPF sub-tab, you gain access to the Router (Router ID) and Redistribution (connected, static and default), which allows the communication between routers when there’s a router or link status change. Furthermore, the OSPF network is divided into small sections called areas, which are very useful for scalability purposes and you also get access to the (OSPF) Interfaces.

I’m getting the same internet speeds with the USG, that I was getting with the ERPoE-5. I have 75Mbps connection with 15Mbps uploads. I also have Threat Management enabled. See the screenshot below. eRx Network partners with pharmacies to provide advanced analytic services designed to maximize performance and profitability.
