A Hobby Magazine issue revealed that his chest was redesigned during the prototype's production, allowing the parts to correctly sit flush. Curiously, Skywarp is the only Basic Decepticon to have a Decepticon symbol on him... and it's the Generation 2 Decepticon symbol at that. Which is approporate given this mold was originally developed for Generation 2. Acid Storm isn't solid green in every shot of "Divide and Conquer"—in the monitor shot he first appears in, he has grey intakes and a green-grey upper chest that matches his helmet. Oddly enough, the intakes are one of the areas that were left the basic green on his Universe toy. This mold was redecoed to create Skywarp, Sunstorm and the Air Warrors in the Heroes of Cybertron line (see below), and retooled into Dirge, Thrust and Ramjet.

The original version of this mold was used to make Generations Jetfire, and was redecoed into Combiner Wars Starscream.As a redeco of the MP-11 release, Sunstorm is likely to be plagued with the same quality control issues. Generation One ceased publication before the story could conclude. The following would have taken place in unpublished issues. In a possible fit of madness, a triple changer was proposed that would switch between Skywarp (possibly mistaken for Starscream), Megatron, and Skywarp's jet mode. This release has no individual-identification code on the bag, requiring the buyer to use the feel-through-the-bag method or just buy blind and hope.

The Diaclone version of the Starscream mold featured tailfins with solid tips and solid fists, and both these features carried over to the earliest Transformers releases. Soon, however, the Transformers mold was modified to add hollow tips to the fins, and tabs to the insides of the fists to allow them to hold onto his arms tighter, resulting in a visible slit on either side of each one. These altered versions became the standard for all subsequent reissues of the mold. Like all his 1984 brethren, a rubsign was added to Starscream in 1985. Further, the Legends of Cybertron Starscream toy, a tiny, simplified version of his main toy, was redecoed three more times: Skywarp as a giveaway at Comic Con 2005, Ramjet as a giveaway at BotCon 2005, and Sunstorm as part of the last wave of the LOC line at retail. Fully jointed and highly articulated, including articulated ankles, feet, torso and fingers, which allows for intricate posabilty in action poses, especially when holding weapon accessories In modern times, Skywarp is often the last of the three primary Decepticon Seekers to see the use of a toyline's respective Seeker mold. Consequently, his figures may become prominent shelfwarmers at the tail end of a line's run, as notoriously seen worldwide with Combiner Wars Leader Class Skywarp.This figure was also available as a Toys"R"Us exclusive in many international Hasbro markets such as Canada, Australia, and Europe. As the Ascenticon Guard began recruiting members directly from The Rise in the aftermath of the Tether's destruction, Acid Storm reunited with his old teammates Ion Storm and Nova Storm. If they made 11-13000 Starscreams they probably only made 500 at most a,1000 of these add on kits. It would have been cool if they were available outside Japan but they dodnt so it is what it is . If this is stuff theyy have to do to make Masterpiece more attractive to Japanese buyers like the coasters than so be it. It's a win for me, the more people invested over there means more releases and more options and I'll gladly trade that for a rehash of some 11 year old accesory parts. Sunstorm was considered as a redeco from Unite Warriors Ghost Starscream (itself a new-head retool of Deluxe Class Skydive) for the final Transformers Figure Subscription Service figure but was replaced at the last minute with Shattered Glass Starscream.
