About this deal

There is also a range of Salter ‘Let’s go healthy’ air fryer recipes so you enjoy fried food with little or no oil. The steps are easy to follow and include setting the time and temperature and pre-heating the air fryer before you cook. The touch-screen is responsive, and fairly easy to use, and it's quiet in its operation. There were a couple of foibles though. The drawers take quite a shove to pull open, so it's pretty much a two-handed affair and, while the metal trays in the bottom of each bay are dishwasher-friendly and can be removed very easily, they do fall out when you come to empty your food out. Which is a bit annoying. The Salter Dual Air Fryer is honestly so useful that I could potentially see myself not switching on an oven again. Almost everything that you can cook in an oven can be put in the air fryer instead, with less need for oil and my waistline has definitely thanked me for it.

Rather than rely on an array of buttons, the Ninja comes with a rotary nob which sets up most of its six functions. It's easier than you'd think to use, and I actually started to prefer the nob over the Salter's array of buttons. It has a good weight to it, and feels very responsive. However, many of the traditionally deep-fried foods you would put in an air fryer are not the healthiest options so you should consider what you’re choosing to eat and ensure it’s part of a balanced diet with plenty of nutrient-rich fruit and vegetables. Where to buy an air fryer If you’re a fan of fried foods, air frying offers a healthier way for you to keep enjoying your favourite meals in 2022. The Salter Dual Air is much like any other air fryer to use, although there’s some added complexity given that you need to set programmes for each basket. Like many other air fryers, it offers a battery of preset modes for various food types. While these might be useful once you come to learn them, I generally found it easier to use the manual mode to dial up the temperature and time I wanted.I decided to keep things simple and tried some home-made air-fried chips, which turned out to be very crispy and the kids didn’t complain. As well as observing how well they cook a single portion of potatoes and vegetables, or single pieces of protein such as fish and steak, we also fill each air fryer to its advertised capacity. This shows us how consistently each appliance cooks across the board, to ensure that four-portion air fryer really is big enough for a family dinner. There’s another catch that’s more specific to this fryer. While the Ninja Foodi Dual Zone goes up to 240℃ in its Max Crisp mode, the Dual Air tops out at a rather modest 200℃. That’s plenty for many dishes but, as my tests confirmed, it’s a little gutless for getting the best browning on chips and other items that need a really good crisping or searing. For example, potato wedges take 20 minutes at 190 degrees, so you would simply select the air frying button at 190 degrees, preheat and then insert the food.

Despite being a budget-friendly option, the T17023 was no slouch in testing, cooking oven classics such as spring rolls and hash browns to a commendable crispness and performing solidly when tasked with more delicate items like meat and vegetables. We decided to try air frying roast potato wedges; we simply sliced up our spuds before popping them in the fryer and pressing the correct setting. Using the included booklet for the times made it super easy. Most also come with a recipe booklet for culinary inspiration, which is ideal if you’re new to air frying. So simply insert food and it will automatically cook without having to lift a finger. It even alerts you on completion.

Air fryers are one of the biggest selling kitchen appliances on the market due to their compact size and speedy cooking times. While there might be an overwhelming number of models out there, the best air fryer not only cuts down on cooking time and on oil, it can also save you money. Air fryers are far more energy efficient than ovens and require less time to heat up, allowing you to cook your favourite oven foods, vegetables and more, in record time. If you want to learn a little more about how air fryers work, and what benefits they have compared to a standard oven, then have a read of our handy explainer here: What is an air fryer? How much should I spend? One of the most popular foods to air fry is potatoes with different options for chips, potato wedges and roast potatoes.
