About this deal

It did not take long for the former McLaren boss to come up with it as he first coined the term at the start of Kimi’s first season with the team due to the Finn’s calm and often cold demeanour. Given his team radios, his interviews and his general demeanour, it is probably not surprising to anyone that Kimi is not a big fan of phone calls. Kimi Raikkonen is currently in the fight for the 3rd position on the driver’s standing with Bottas, after his countryman overtook him in the last race, thanks to his 2nd place finish.

The Unknown Kimi Raikkonen | Kari Hotakainen | Book | Hardback

Enigmatic and private, Ferrari’s former world champion driver rarely opens up to outsiders, but he granted Hotakainen exclusive access to his world and his way of thinking … With all the raw excitement of Formula One and the insight of the best biographies, this will delight all fans of motorsport and those who have long revered the elusive Finn.’ The minor one was that he didn’t have his gloves to cover his hands when holding the steering wheel. The other things that was missing…the steering wheel! Only 1500 copies of the book were made available for the launch of Mission Winnow, a PMI initiative aimed at creating engagement around the role of science, technology and innovation as a powerful force for improvements. Riccardo Parino, PMI Vice President Global Partnerships and Events said: "We never expected that Kimi's Book of Haiku would generate such a buzz. We saw it as a light-hearted but real demonstration of winnowing and an ideal way to engage people about the guiding principles of our initiative. You were three-hundredths of a second faster than your team-mate. Why do you think that was? ‘Hmm. Hard to say.’ As well as being very good at driving a Formula 1 car, Kimi also was a pretty decent mechanic, even if he didn’t finish his course. That season, he put together a monumental late run of form to pip McLaren duo Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton and become a World Champion, and nobody in red has been able to do that since. I think this book has two problems. The first is that Kimi Raikkonen, like most sportspeople is really not all that interesting. The second is that the author, while a perfectly competent writer, does not know enough about motorsport to identify the aspects of his story that might be worth exploring in more detail.

Kimi Raikkonen’s haiku book is the most amazing thing Kimi Raikkonen’s haiku book is the most amazing thing

This book was painful to slog through because of the authors insistence on bashing Formula One at every opportunity while also trying to portray Kimi as some sort of victim of the whole thing, even though Kimi has chosen for the last nineteen years (with the exception of 2010-2011, I know) to participate. Written on Raikkonen’s Alfa Romeo C41 was “Dear Kimi, we will leave you alone now”. Where are his gloves and steering wheel? After he was told on the phone his signing to Ferrari for 2014 was finalized, he threw his phone in the sea Minä en varsinaisesti koskaan ole ollut liiemmin kiinnostunut autourheilusta tai Kimistä.

Despite the fact Kimi was born three years after James Hunt won his only World Championship and five months after he retired, he is a huge fan of the Briton. Formerly the Grand Prix Mechanics Trust, since 2016 the charity has been known as the Grand Prix Trust to recognise the broader reach and scope of those whom they can help as Formula 1 roles evolve. Trustees include chairman Martin Brundle, former Ferrari technical director Ross Brawn and Motorsport Network president James Allen. That was day one of a week, so there was nothing I could do apart from a massive combover to hide it for the rest of the week!”The prince of Bahrain arranged a search for a guy who pushed Kimi into a pool in 2012 and ruined his phone Kimi sees the fans and stops. He knows what he has to do before diving into the Maserati waiting outside. A couple of minutes, forty metres, then the encounter will be over.
