At our top spot, we have chosen the HG Super Protector Wall and Colourless Grout Sealer. This grout sealer dries completely colourless, providing transparent protection against water, grease, oil, and dirt. This grout sealer is made from oil paint that dries on top of the grout, leaving a strong, impenetrable, yet smooth layer. Mattstone will help to inhibit oil based stains but such spillages should be wiped up immediately. On rougher surfaced floors it may be prudent to use an appropriate surface sealer in conjunction with ‘Mattstone’. The most important factor in achieving a good finish is to use a tiler with proven experience of laying and sealing terracotta tiles, as the wrong application of adhesive, sealers, grout and finishing products can ruin these beautiful tiles, costing you time and money. As above, the sealer can be applied to the tiles before they are laid, or at least 12 hours before grouting the tiles. Ensure you shake the bottle well and apply the product in accordance with the instructions on the bottle. Remember if using a roller, brush or cloth they must be appropriately washed out with white spirit and then disposed of carefully. Do not leave them exposed to direct sunlight, as if linseed is allowed to dry on a roller, brush or cloth, it can become self-combustible. Either before the tiles are laid, or before grouting the tiles, the tiles must be sealed with at least 2 coats of LTP Mattstone and 2 coats of the finishing product Ironwax Satin/Gloss. To ensure a good seal, apply the LTP Mattstone at 2-hour intervals until the sealer starts to sit on the surface. After the final coat of Mattstone, allow 45 minutes and then buff away any excess.

Rinse well to remove residues and leave to dry (24hrs).
