About this deal

I read King of Battle and Blood, the first book in the “Adrian X Isolde” series, just recently. And I was very into it. There was magic and battle and vampires and an enemies-to-lovers romance that went hard on the steamy front. So, I was pretty excited to see that the second book was already out. I was very interested in seeing where this story went next, after learning there was so much more history to the story of Adrian and Isolde than I’d originally thought. I had high hopes for this book. I was hoping that now that Isolde has remembered her previous life, we would learn more about the characters. However, she does not recall many details until after they would have been useful. As a result, we spend the entire book behind. Which doesn’t help because there’s a traitor in Adrian’s inner circle, so every interaction makes you wonder if the person is telling the truth. We lose attachment to the characters we interact with because there is no trust. I understand why it was done because that is how Isolde felt. However, when the betrayal occurs, there is no emotional connection. Because we, as readers, have no emotional attachment to those characters and relationships. As a result, Isolde feels off. She gets angry and hurt, even though she had been suspicious of them the whole time. Like, make up your mind. Did you trust them or not?

The fact that three chapters have done nothing apart from making me want to re-read the entire first book (again) and devour this one the second it’s out! Thank you so much to Bloom Books & Netgalley for providing an advanced copy of this. All thoughts and opinions are still my own. Isolde was renowned for her brutality, the queen of myth and monsters. She does not have any compassion or forgiveness in her heart for those who would do harm to her kingdom. With their blood dripping helplessly, howls of beg are invading the ground. The corners of Adrian’s lips curled, and he learned closer, his breath on my lips as he spoke. “If that is your wish, I shall build it myself.” Queen of Myth & Monsters (Adrian X Isolde #2) by Scarlett St. Clair Narrated by Lilly Drake; Curt Bonnem (audiobook review)Human or vampire, the rules of survival are the same: never trust, never yield, and always – always – guard your heart. I have never read a series like this since Fever! I don’t know what to think or feel or what the hell I just read!! All I know is that Adrian & Isolde have my heart and the love they have for each other makes me weak. I went into this book thinking I had a clue only to have the script totally flipped. I don’t know anything and that is the sign of a phenomenal writer.

Now for the witches and monsters. Nothing made my dark witch heart sing more than this book. The research I know that went into it, the planning, and the love that went into presenting a supernatural world and the witches in such a true/real way is AMAZING. I felt as though I was pulled into a new reality. One wrapped in intricate magic, untrusting gods, and monsters you can’t help but fall in love with. This witch approves of what went into the details. It is an extraordinary piece of work, a perfect balancing act with terror on one side and love on the other. This exceptionally well-written novel is all about suspense, thrill, and drama, including the relationships between generations and what happens between long-standing friends. The characters are sensitively portrayed, as is their recovery, and the hopeful ending is realistic. Readers of domestic dramas will be enthralled. For those who love gritty, somewhat nasty mysteries with weird, and exotic settings in one of the world’s most famous cities, this thriller mystery will satisfy you. It is perfect for a long plane trip or a rainy weekend. Queen of Myth and Monsters by Scarlett St. Clair PDF/ePub Details

Isolde: “Perhaps if I had been raised by my mother, I would be more inclined to forgive you for it, but I was raised by my father, and like him, I am only interested in punishing those who slight me.” Scarlett manages to write real, true, and devastating (the good kind) characters. I’m thankful for the spice that heals the wounds inflicted by this perfect installment of the Adrian x Isolde series. Scarlett’s words are brilliant, the story is wound and flows perfectly. Perfectly in a way you see nothing coming and you’re at the edge of your seat the whole time. Queen of Myth and Monsters brought out my white boards, red string, and conspiracy cap. Yet all my ideas were wrong 😂 Gods…it was so good. A true fantasy. A true romance. A true piece of art. Adrian is losing control of himself because the goddess Dis is controlling him more and more. As Dis is enraged at Adrian’s desire for freedom after being reunited with Isolde. He can’t be set free unless someone uses magic against him to break Dis’s hold on him, which doesn’t happen in this book. However, it is something that many people are afraid of. Which is why they go after Isolde, who is his only weakness. Adrian will die if Isolde dies. that being said, there was never a point where i wanted to DNF this. like, yes, the poor storytelling is annoying, but im still invested? i dont know why, but i am. He was an anchor I grasped in the darkness of my grief, the only thing that brought feeling, and I craved this—his heat, our madness, the distraction.

BOMBASTIC side eye🫣 this felt nothing like king of battle and blood. nobody talk to me, i am mourning. Queen of Myth and Monsters was just as good as King of Battle and Blood. While it felt similar to the first one in terms of a third act betrayal, I liked this instalment for delivering the MC chemistry. so heres me hoping the next book will be better, but im also preparing myself in case it probably isnt. who knows.

And it wasn't even new fights. But reworded iterations the same fights. And after awhile I was just annoyed. Rather than push through and give this a low rating, when I know I won't be continuing with the series anyways, I just decided to put it down. This is the second book in the Adrian x Isolde series, and I was so excited to get my hands on it once I finished King of Battle and Blood. I wished I was kidding when I said that everything that could have gone wrong with this book, went wrong. This series might be based on a love story, but I'd hardly call this book a romance. Compared to the first instalment in the series, where the characters have such depth of feeling and tenderness for each other with great spice; and so many side characters were introduced and readied for their moment to shine… It seems that the author decided that, instead of shinning, they are all to be plummeted into darkness. Including the MCs. Thank you NetGalley, Tantor Audio and Recorded Books for sharing this audiobook with me. This is a story you don't want to miss. She has a Master's degree in Library Science and Information Studies and a Bachelors in English Writing. She is obsessed with Greek Mythology, murder mysteries, and the afterlife. There's nowhere more dangerous than Olympus...and no one more captivating than its golden god: Apollo. Keeper of secrets, master of his shining realm...and the only man I am powerless to deny. Isolde has a bit of a saviour complex to her that comes out full-force here. *She* wants to save everyone. Her father's kingdom. Her mother's kingdom (even though she's never set foot there 😭). This story twists so much that it blurs the line between good and evil, you're not quite sure which side anyone is on. The betrayals are surprising and I actually liked this book even more than the first. It is still a lot of spice but there was a much more captivating plot and it kept me hooked throughout. Overall, I give Queen of Myth and Monsters 3.25 stars out of 5. I plan to read the next book in this series because I believe that now that the revelations have occurred, more can be done with the story. Plus, as a vampire, Isolde will have to relearn how to use her powers/magic. And perhaps, just maybe, Isolde will mature as a character. But if Isolde doesn’t improve as a person in the next book and it’s not the end of the series, I might just give up and DNF the rest. I seriously can’t stand Isolde as she is right now unless she starts caring about people other than herself.
