About this deal

This novel consists of 33 chapters and an Afterword. The chapters are short to medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case! It's a race against time...as Cam the well loved celebrity chef must pull out all the punches and make the ransom money deadline....or things won't end well. Iris who is beside herself about losing will looks into Will's past she finds a lot of inconsistencies this chills her to the core & sets out to find the truth.

What a storyteller Rachel Abbott is..." Cara Hunter "It's obvious why Abbott has attracted her huge audience ." The Times " The queen of psychological thrillers ." Fabulous Magazine Rubinstein, Mark (27 December 2016). " 'The Marriage Lie,' A Conversation with Kimberly Belle". HuffPost. On her fortieth birthday, Stella’s husband Rob dropped a bombshell on her, threatening to reveal a secret to their teenage daughter Georgie if she doesn’t yield to his wishes. Stella has worked hard to protect the secret in her whole life. About the masked invader…..Yes, he gets his story too! Did Belle actually make us try to sympathize with him? Maybe. I’m not gonna say much because of spoilers, but his story brings up good points about the greediness of our system in America. What is his motive in holding Jade and her children hostage?

Need Help?

I know my complaint is pretty elaborate, but the thing is, I really did enjoy this read—namely the first half. The second half began to lose its spark a bit, but the first fifty percent or so was solid enjoyment. Then there’s the very ending…that final, tiny twist after the twist that sneaks in as quietly as a whisper, but changes the dynamic entirely. Kind of crazy—and I kind of loved it. Surely there’s some mistake – her husband would never lie to her. Would he? But wading deeper into the truth of her husband’s deception, Iris begins to think the unthinkable. The detailed and vivid writing style does a great job of building tension and suspense throughout the story. Complementing the immersive narrative are the multiple points of view (POVs) that provide insights into the perspectives and lives of the main characters. Most chapters also end with a cliffhanger, making the story gripping and delightfully hard to put down. There are even a few comical moments that provide a brief respite from the story's tension. These actually had me smiling and laughing out loud.

Did you find yourself switching allegiances to characters as the novel progressed? Whom did you trust and then later begin to doubt? How does the author accomplish those shifting loyalties? Secrets underlie the supposedly perfect union between Iris and Will. How destructive are secrets to a relationship? Can secrets ever be countenanced in a marriage … are some secrets permissible? Do you have secrets in your closest relationships—with your spouse, significant other, or dear friends? What if you found someone were keeping secrets? Would it depend on the secret? The story starts with a tv interview between Channel 7 reporter Juanita Moore ( second cousin of Julianne Moore, okay I lied, let’s continue )and Cam Lasky who was shunned by media for months, portrayed as one of the biggest grifters, most hated behind Pharma Bro, Martin Shkreli. We learn that Cam was once upon a time a top chef, owner of 5 highly appraised restaurants. But the reason behind public hate is not he has same treats with Gordon Ramsey. Hell, no! It’s connected to his family who suffered a big tragedy and the reason why they suffered so much connected with his tremendous lies he kept from them. Seriously? And she was a psychologist? Like seriously? She didn’t notice something was wrong after seven year of marriage? She either was a shitty psychologist or a shitty and an easily manipulative wife. Belle and her husband, a Dutch real-estate entrepreneur, have two children. She currently divides her time between Atlanta and Amsterdam. It all begins in a swish, swanky restaurant and relations between Stella and Rob seem perfect - before Stella’s life begins to unravel in spectacular ways. This story expertly poses the question: Can you truly know someone if everything they've ever told you about themselves is a lie? And then attempts to answer this question through a plot overflowing with doubt and suspicion. You will question the validity of everything, and it is addicting, to say the least. A family riddled with lies. A little girl who won't speak. What if keeping her safe means losing her forever? A notebook full of secrets, two untimely deaths – something sinister is stirring in the perfect seaside town of Morranez… Juanita is giving Cam the opportunity to “set the record straight” on what happened on August 6th-the day that his wife Jade, and their two young children, Beatrix and Baxter (affectionately called the Bees!) were held hostage in their own home, by a masked invader.
