About this deal

With the release of the recent movie Real Steel, in which hulking metallic boxing robots do battle at the will of Hollywood-heart throb trainers, I got to thinking. We live in a world where progress and advancement are an expectation rather than an aspiration. This applies equally to boxing training which has enlisted the expert services of a range of specialised coaches and indeed specialised fitness techniques. Can the same embracing of advancement be said though of the equipment that we use in boxing? Graser, Marc (May 26, 2011). "Pic promos get physical". Variety. It's not long before Max, Charlie, and Atom are recognized by professional promoters and invited to take part in the WRB, Worldwide Robot Boxing. They are pitted in a match against Twin Cities, an Asian robot with two heads and users. After being beaten into a corner, Charlie finds Twin Cities' weakness, and during the confusion between it's controllers, Atom lays the beat down. After a grueling, metal-on-metal slug-fest, Atom finally is announced the victor. When entering the ring as the champion, Max grabs the microphone and publicly challenges Zeus to a duel. Let’s first talk about the specifics of this particular design of boxing robot. The first and probably most obvious observation is the fact that the punching mechanism is fixed and repetitive. It’s cyclical and whilst it appears that the speed of incoming shots can be adjusted, the angle and sequence of ‘punches’ that the boxing robot throws is conventional and built around a simple one-two, of sorts anyway. I’m not sure that the robot’s creator is as fanatical on hip rotation as we are on MyBoxingCoach, or indeed the flaring of elbows, let’s just leave it at that. One key difference you’ll see is that boxing boots rise higher up on the foot and ankle. High-top boxing boots offer support to your ankle and shins when you are pivoting, making them ideal for manoeuvres. You’ll be able to reduce the risk of injury with the right boots, and with so many high-quality brands to choose from, you are spoilt for choice. Staff (September 23, 2011). In terms of function, why buy a boxing robot when a fellow boxer or a coach can simulate a live opponent in a much more effective and real-life way than a robot?Raging Bender" from the second season of Futurama also depicts a hidden human controller of a robotic boxer. It is probably worth pointing out that whilst the guy using this boxing robot throws some fairly decent straight shots, he is at the more novice end of the boxing spectrum and if an experienced fighter squared off against the boxing robot then the potential benefits may be more obvious. There’s a lot of substance to your points. I too am a big fan of long range aggressive boxing, putting together streams of shots. Aaron Pryor was indeed a master of this approach, as was Duran and yes, Martinez too is a fantastic fighter who takes this approach. Many top amateurs box in that way also; Cubans, Eastern Europeans and the US guys also bring big performers in this department. Where I am confused though is that good basic skills are good basic skills, whatever style these skills are used within. A good left hook is a good left hook, whoever throws it. Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times rated the film 3 stars out of 4, saying, " Real Steel is a real movie. It has characters, it matters who they are, it makes sense of its action, it has a compelling plot. Sometimes you go into a movie with low expectations and are pleasantly surprised." [46] Lisa Schwarzbaum of Entertainment Weekly gave the film an A−, saying director Levy "makes good use of his specialized skill in blending people and computer-made imaginary things into one lively, emotionally satisfying story". Upgraded Parts for Extra Durability: Enjoy superior performance with upgraded springs and motors on the RXT-1, allowing you to push your limits and hit harder. In recent months my attention had been brought to the potential of mechanised hitting equipment; effectively boxing robots. Traditionally boxers will use the heavy bag, a coach with pads, fellow boxers (in the form of various types of sparring), double-end bags and so on. In fact, the methods of training and equipment used for a ‘striking’ sport like boxing has remained largely unchanged for many, many years.

In the near future when people become uninterested in boxing and similar sports, a new sport is created - Robot boxing wherein robots battle each other while being controlled by someone. Charlie Kenton, a former boxer who's trying to make it in the new sport, not only doesn't do well, he is very deeply in the red. When he learns that his ex, mother of his son Max, dies, he goes to figure out what to do with him. His ex's sister wants to take him in but Charlie has first say in the matter. Charlie asks her husband for money so he can buy a new Robot in exchange for turning Max over to them. He takes Max for the summer. And Max improves his control of his robot. But when the robot is destroyed, they go to a scrap yard to get parts. Max finds an old generation robot named Atom and restores him. Max wants Atom to fight but Charlie tells him he won't last a round. However, Atom wins. And it isn't long before Atom is getting major bouts. Max gets Charlie to teach Atom how to fight, and the father and son bond strenghtens. — [email protected] Steel" ( The Twilight Zone), a 1963 episode of The Twilight Zone also based on Richard Matheson's short storyAccess to Upcoming Installation/Set-Up Instructional Video: We're creating a comprehensive instructional video to make setting up your RXT-1 a breeze, ensuring you get the most out of your training. These robots have been tested thoroughly; these models are version 7.5. Several arm configurations, leg configurations, chassis, and heads were built and tested until I arrived at the final design. Playability is critical so these robots have been made to be handled, moved, and beaten up by one another without falling apart. Young engineers get to snap together the 327 pieces to build two hydro-powered boxers, each capable of complex shoulder gestures, two boxing punches - jab and uppercut - three waist postures, and interchangeable heads. So, cards on the table. I genuinely do believe that a piece of equipment of this nature, a boxing robot, has a place in boxing training. But, and this is a pretty big but, I don’t see boxing robots being widely adopted in boxing gyms and boxing clubs up and down the land. Why do I hold this apparently contradictory view? Well, there are two primary reasons:
