About this deal

The Fender FUSE software is a great reason to connect the amp to your PC or MAC. This is a user interface that allows you to change amp voices, settings, and tones; as well as saving and loading settings. And there’s a bit more to it…

Even though USB connectivity seems like the common thing to do, this is an extremely rare feature out there, although it shares the feature with the Boss Katana modeling amp series. The tolex is unfortunately not real and looks to be of some sort of vinyl or plastic. It’s very sturdy though, and small dings won’t even show up.If you don’t plan on using the Fender FUSE software or wouldn’t know how to do it, this amp is not a great choice. You won’t have many effects to play with and, in all honesty, you might not like the original presets and voices. Digital technologies have allowed some major improvements regarding what solid-state guitar amplifiers can provide. The old adage saying “tube amps are always better” might no longer be true. However, the Mustang I V2 shines at low and medium outputs and starts to get muddy at higher outputs, like most solid-state amps out there. If you want a quality sound on louder volumes, you should go for the bigger Mustang amps. The amp allows users to save 24 presets directly into the amp. For example, there are 12 factory presets written into the FUSE software. It means you can plug the amp to the computer and save up to 36 presets. The Fender Mustang I (V2) 20 Watt Digital Practice Amp is an extremely versatile piece of kit and is ideal for guitarists at all levels.

Seventeen high-quality Fender and other amp models including five new ones, such as '57 Twin and '60s Thrift Fender FUSE is not hard to use (it provides an excellent visual simulation of your sound rig), but if you’re not comfortable with computers it’s probably not a big selling point. But for those who welcome modern technological tools, FUSE is a huge plus. With it, you can tweak just about every aspect of the Mustang. Just from the name Fender, you know you will be getting a quality product. Moreover, the Mustang I V2 amp has a pretty good reputation in the guitarist community as a solid choice for home practice and gigs. Thrift – (Sears 1964 Silvertone) British ’70s – Marshall 1959SLP Plexi British Color – (Orange Custom Shop) British Watts (HiWatt 100 DR103)If you’re looking at a Mustang III, IV or V, then the answer is yes. This is due mostly because the v.1 versions of those amps had a bug that is know as “FIZZ” among their grumpy owners. V.2 solves the FIZZ problem. In fact, Leo Fender actually started building amps before moving into the manufacturing of guitars. The Fender Mustang is There are 24 fully customizable factory presets that can all be accessed right on the amp. There are three banks of eight presets. You can see which bank you’re on by looking at the color of the LED light. Green = bank 1, Orange = bank 2, and Red = bank 3. Without doubt, the main attribute of this Fender combo is the authentic sounding amp modelling on board.

Keep in mind the presets and amp voices exist because the channels don’t. That means there’s not a “clean channel.” Instead, you would have to find and amp voice that delivers a clean sound, like the Fender Twins. Users claim the amp does a great job at what it intends to do. However, they insist the amp needs some tweaking via the FUSE software. Thrift” is code for Silvertone amps, “British Watts” is the HiWatt, and “British Colour’ is an Orange amp style. New Effects in v.2But the quality of this 20-watt Mustang amp is a nice surprise. The effects are also of very high quality, decent enough to belong on a DigiTech multi-effects pedal or individual budget stompboxes. However, putting the speaker off to the side for a moment, let’s focus on the internal sound quality. The Fender Mustang is obviously a solid-state amplifier, so getting that tube response is very difficult. I do have to say that it does it pretty well. It replicates that ‘tube warmth’ of say a ’57 Deluxe well, and is very dynamic. Wefinally have a modelling amp has had the common sense to include a USB port to connect to a PC/Mac. Modelling amps have been around for years and while amps have been very reluctant to include a USB port, multi-effect pedals have been including them for years and it works really well (see the review on the Line 6 HD500X). Fender FUSE

The good news is the factory presets are actually pretty good, so you’ll be better off creating new ones. Instead of channels, the Mustang I V2 has presets, and I have to highlight presets of the Mustang series because they are functional, versatile, and fun.

The Mustang I V2 amp is a small powerhouse. Even though it’s famous for being a practice amp, it’s suitable for smaller gigs too. The speakers may seem slightly lesser than average, but having 20 watts of solid-state power delivers a volume level louder than expected. This doesn’t mean that a more experienced player will have no value with this little amp. It can be a great practice tool to have at home while your big heavy tube amp sits at the rehearsal space. The controls on the Mustang are knob-driven and on top of the amp. It has a single knob each for Gain, Volume, Treble, Bass, and Master. The Preset Select has a preset that you can dial through, and some effects are under master headings called Modulation Select and Delay/Reverb Select. The amp models light up individual LEDs for each model type. The control panel features a Treble knob to control the high frequencies and a bass knob to control the lows, but there is no Middle knob to control over the mid-range. It may seem a bit confusing at first. However, you will get used to it in no time.
