About this deal

Born in 1963 in Gifu prefecture, Junji Ito is Japan’s most successful and lauded horror writer. What makes Ito unique in the horror world is that he isn’t a novelist or a short story writer in the traditional sense; he’s a mangaka. His horror stories, both short and long, are all written and drawn with a surreal, off-kilter, otherworldly eeriness. Marionette Mansion (from House of the Marionettes, あやつりの屋敷 Ayatsuri no Yashiki), a story about a family who rather than deciding what they do or how they live, they instead hire puppeteers to control their actions via strings from the attic of their home. I’ll admit it. I intentionally slowed my progress through this book. After each story, I would put it down and read something else for a while. I wanted time to let Ito’s imagery linger, and not just rush headlong into the next story. Tsuruta, Norio (September 13, 2001), Kakashi (Fantasy, Horror), Emperor Multimedia Group (EMG), Planet, Mi-PiC, archived from the original on September 21, 2022 , retrieved September 20, 2022 Each story has something different to offer. “The Long Dream” is quite haunting, “Used Record” is chilling and gruesome, and “Honored Ancestors” takes an unusual twist. The artwork is superb — detailed and moody, using such fine ink lines to create such disturbing imagery. Ito's work has developed a substantial cult following, [1] [2] and Ito has been called an iconic horror manga artist. [1] [3] [4] [5] His manga has been adapted to both film and anime television series, including the Tomie film series and both the Junji Ito Collection and Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre anime anthology series. The first story, “Used Record,” is about a mysterious vinyl record that leads to obsession and murder when people listen to it. A cursed record that dooms its listeners. A mysterious jade carving that bestows a horrific disease on those who possess it. A monstrous fashion model. Ghostly blimps of the dead. A crazed puppeteer who turns his family into marionettes. A muse that drives painters mad. A man whose dreams distort time and, eventually, his body. A man determined to carry on his family’s lineage, no matter what. And a nightmarishly greasy house and the poor family the grease envelopes. In the present day, Yuuji meets up with his friend Hideo. Hideo's mother is a midwife at the local hospital, who delivered Rina at birth. Rina was born not breathing and the doctors could not explain how she was alive; but then the holes began to open in her skin and she was somehow able to breathe through them. However, Hideo claims his mother might be making this story up, and Yuuji doesn't know what to believe. Smith, David (February 11, 2023). A connection between Lovecraft's work and the spirals of Uzumaki has been placed before, as well as a common theme of cosmic horror. [21]

Death Row Doorbell: A happy family of five is torn apart when they're assaulted by a gang of rogue bikers during a summer vacation, leaving the father and youngest child dead, and leaving the brother and sister who survived in care of their mother who is now suffering from severe brain damage from the beatings she endured. Every day, the spirit of the gang leader appears at their front door, begging for forgiveness while his body wastes away in prison waiting for his death sentence to be carried out. The brother and sister refuse to forgive him, growing further tormented by the spirit of the man who destroyed their lives until one of them finally snaps. The theme of the story is about how holding grudges and being unable to forgive those who have wronged us ends up hurting the victims much more than it hurts the assailants. Vengeance, hatred and grudges are all horribly self-destructive things. Collects: Blood-Slurping Darkness, The Ghost of Golden Time, Roar of Ages, Secret of the Haunted Mansion, Glyceride (a.k.a.
