About this deal

Don Julio’s surge in popularity hasn’t been tied to clearly defined geographical boundaries, either. Although some old bottles aren't worth a lot of money, they can make beautiful decorations in your home.

Don Julio 1942 Tequila was released in 2002 to celebrate 60 years of the brand (via Difford's Guide). As you take your first sip, the intense flavours and aromas of this premium tequila will come forth. This legendary tequila is complex and intriguing, with the warming flavours of oak, pepper, cinnamon and vanilla running throughout, finished with notes of agave and green banana. Carolyn Kissick is a Guadalajara-based partner at the consultancy firm Tequila Partners and director of consumer education and experience at SipTequila, a private tequila club. After two years of selling tequila, Don Julio made the game-changing decision to ask a wealthy merchant who was considered a local celebrity for a loan to build and operate his own distillery in 1942 (via Diageo Bar Academy). As more and more consumers explore premium and ultra-premium tequila options, one bottle that is certain to catch their eye is Don Julio 1942. While Mexican law allows tequila to be produced in several other states, most of the tequila that you know and love comes from Jalisco. During the time he worked at the distillery, he gained the experience which would lead to the birth of an extraordinary tequila years later. What made Don Julio González's tequila such an icon was that González was dedicated to pursuing quality over quantity even though it required more time, effort, and money. If the bottle has dirt or dust on the inside, it may be a "dug" bottle, or one a bottle-hunter found in an old dump.

A certain shade that matches the green of 7-Up bottles can indicate the bottle is probably from the 20th century.Since Don Julio 1942 is an aged tequila, it has had plenty of time to develop a complex flavor profile. In simpler terms, I would describe the bottle as well thought out, logical, sparing of material and pleasant to look at. Crafting and distilling up to 11 months cause the liquor to impress the consumer with the exclusively light and crispy mouthfeel.
