trust them😟 you know when you rewatch a movie and realize how obvious who the bad guy was from the start? Honestly, I also really loved seeing more of the ichneumons as well - I'm a sucker for a good magical companion-animal, especially when they can speak. So, one of the few things that could have been a surprise in this novel was spoiled as well before the reveal, due to just plain deductive logic. the different kingdoms and povs were so distinct that you don’t even need the chapter heading to tell you where or who you are reading.A desirable and engrossing fantasy that is intense, dangerous, fascinating but compelling and also extraordinary.

Across the sea in Seiiki, Dumai has spent her life as a godsinger on Mount Ipyeda, a frigid and isolated world away from the politics of the throne room she may be destined for. As much as I loved the characters, I think the setting and the world was my favorite part of the book.If anything, Shannon uses this story to develop those themes even further, exploring the ways that religion influences the lives of every character in her world. Whilst I fell in love with many of these characters there was just too many to fully appreciate them all and quite a few added little to the overall story. As I'm less active on social media than I used to be, I just thought I'd answer a few questions in advance, to give you a clearer sense of A Day of Fallen Night. And the always gut wrenching 'this is the world I must bring a child into' aspect told with nuance and empathy.
