Mulberries, it seems, are a much sweeter berry than the blackberry, but they do have a little tartness to them to balance out the flavour.

This gin uses Hebridean sugar kelp as one of its botanicals, bottling a taste of the Scottish Isle of Harris where it is made. In terms of tonic, it suits a bolder tonic such as Fever Tree as the flavour of the gin is quite strong. The body is heavily cherry-flavored, a bit cough syrupy in its sweetness, but with enough of a thyme- and rosemary-tinted edge to pull it back from the edge… at least for a time. Mixing gin and beer might not be a good idea normally, but Tarquin’s Hopster Gin is the exception to that rule.

Originally released in 1845 and named after the esteemed Boodle's Gentleman's Club in London, where even Winston Churchill was once a member, this gin was relaunched under new ownership in 2013 to continue its legacy of excellence. A unique line extension in the gin world, Boodles Mulberry Gin is the first-ever mulberry gin to be sold in America. With the sweetness of the blackberry liqueur (aka Crème de Mûre) and mulberry gin combined, fresh lemon juice in this Mulberry Bramble Cocktail is the perfect balancer. As you might have already gathered, Cream Gin uses cold-distilled fresh cream as a botanical, with interesting results. I don’t want to go into too much depth about Boodles and their famous London Dry as I’ll reserve that for a later review but in brief, their original gin is distilled from a base spirit of British wheat, infused with traditional herbs and spices including nutmeg, sage and rosemary.

I hear they grow wildly in the UK in some places but I’ve never actually seen them myself, and I’ve certainly never seen them in the supermarket or in markets!
