com because Trish will likely be the first person to get it when it once again becomes available, and her newsletter will be the best way to stay on top of that. This means that it will have a blue tint to it in the shade and is best used in projects tending towards the cooler side of the color spectrum. This clay has an aspect very close to flesh, a porcelain-like finish and is totally suitable for creating dolls. You have to be super careful when conditioning this clay as any air bubble, no matter how small, will end up causing a whole lot of plaquing. Today I'll be creating a polymer clay crackle veneer with kroma crackle and I'll go into details regarding how to achieve color and how varnish and resin will affect the finished result.

I recently made some “beach stones” using Kato, and when polished they were impossible to tell they were not real unless you picked them up. One thing I didn’t see in the discussion was the hardness and ability to take on a high shine without the use of varnish or coatings. It’s mushy too work with, too soft for caning, many of the colors darken during baking, and its translucent…isn’t. As soon as your piece of clay is baked and maybe polished, you can still work on it by adding acrylic paints, oil paints, mica powders or varnish. All of the clay I used was recently purchased and appeared to be fresh, with the exception of the Cernit.

In reality, polymer clay is non-toxic and only releases harmful gases when it burns, and it does not burn until it gets close to 350°F. I only started working with Premo white translucent polymer clay recently, but I’ve already learned to love it. The short cooking time is great for us to with such limited power but I have always wondered if it is long enough! Cernit Translucent Modelling Clay is sold in 56g blocks and the transparent is also available in 250g and 500g blocks. You can also use it to tone down Kato’s spectral colors to a more natural color in polymer clay techniques like mokume gane. The clay should be used with clean hands on a clean surface as well to prevent any dirt or dust from getting in the clay. All together the translucent clays can seem like quite a muddled bunch with a whole lot of advantages and disadvantages.
