As a bookend to the series, The Ringed City is a triumph and as narratively straightforward as you can get in the Dark Souls series. Players are also free to kill the Firekeeper and literally take the ending of the flame into their own hands. Players learn in "Dark Souls" that Gwyn's firstborn was a celebrated God of War who suffered a humiliating loss. Because of this, Dark Souls II had an entirely different tone to its predecessor and is considered the ‘black sheep’ of the series. But once players get past Ludwig, they’ll find Bloodborne’s darkest secrets hidden away in the Old Hunters DLC.

The game doesn't openly spell out the connection between this Painted World and the one encountered in "Dark Souls," but fans have used their sleuthing abilities to put the pieces together. Hidden inside a painting hanging on a wall in Anor Londo, this world is protected by heavily-armed guardians and is the home of Priscilla, a dragon hybrid with incredible power who initially asks the protagonist to calmly leave before attacking. They are often essentially mini sequels to the base game that usually finish the game’s story and hide the true ending. Players will be immersed into a world of epic atmosphere and darkness through faster gameplay and amplified combat intensity. Those accustomed to the main game, who have a solid character build and aren’t jumping in too early, often find the enemies and bosses here a natural step up.While we only know that the new expansion is officially being developed, FromSoftware has a history of releasing substantial expansions that are rich with both new areas and bosses as well as new story content. We got to revisit Anor Londo, though this time its sunset lit cathedral has been frozen over under the rule of the gluttonous Aldrich and came across NPCs from Astora and Catarina to remind us of our favorite characters throughout the series. The only other area is a PvP arena behind a very cool boss fight, set in an area that almost feels like an homage to the final fight in Metal Gear Solid 3. Then, when the player finally travels deeper into its walls and past time and space itself, they’ll face off against one of the best sword-to-sword enemies in the game that is both a remix of one of Dark Souls’ best DLC bosses, Artorias of the Abyss.
