About this deal

Certain items can take longer to source than the estimated week, particularly during busy trading periods and may take longer to arrive at ourwarehouse. I’ll admit, the parallels of free enterprise and communism were totally lost on me, and I’m sure the same could be said of the small children watching it live, back in the day. Joining them in their adventures are the UNIT team of Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart (Nicholas Courtney), Captain Yates (Richard Franklin) and Sergeant Benton (John Levene). For home video releases on formats other than DVD and Blu-ray, see List of other Doctor Who home video releases. A well done story with a couple interesting side notes such as a young Jeremy Bulloch a decade before his turn as an archer in The Time Warrior and as Boba Fett in Star Wars.

For cinema release, this was converted to 24p (24 frames per eye) using the same slowdown method used for US releases. Having finally obtained William Hartnell’s second season on Blu-ray — the first black and white season to get the royal treatment — I found myself once again swept up in “Overview mode”. The Season 12 and 19 releases matched that of the UK Collectors Edition releases, minus the J-card, which was slightly different. As for classic-era Doctor Who, whilst studio scenes were shot in standard-definition using electronic cameras, most on-location scenes were shot on 16mm film. All Ninth and Tenth Doctor episodes appearing on Blu-ray produced prior to " Planet of the Dead" have been upscaled to 1080p for those releases.

In 2021, the BBC announced reissues of simpler packaging with a standard slipcase, starting with seasons 12 and 19. However, third series story The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith is included as part of The Complete David Tennant Collection. Of course, some of that’s the writing, but some of it’s also how O’Brien carried herself as Vicki, refusing to be a useless, screaming hostage, I salute her for that.

The entire story comes across as a bit of a mish-mash, but then again, it is a chase across space and time. The Power of the Daleks, originally released on Blu-ray in 2017, was re-released as a special edition with significant changes to the animation and additional bonus features.

Including Australian interviews with Peter Davison and Janet Fielding shot during production of this season.
