The two disc and vinyl versions have either as many or fewer songs than the previous multi-platinum collection. The labels and pressing plants NEED to be made responsible for fixing the never ending vinyl pressing cockups, not retailers. Remastered for the "modern" tastes : compressed (but far less than the cd, thanks God), thin and bright.

We are really sorry for any frustration this causes and are working closely with our supplier to prevent a similar issue occurring in the future. A new Elton Johngreatest hits collection Diamonds will be issued in November, with a limited box set also available. Upon opening the album, I too found that both records looked like they'd had the contents of a vacuum bag emptied upon them prior to packaging. I used my normal ritual in running it through the Spin Clean then the ultrasonic cleaner and then a zap from the zero stat gun and it was a nice listen. The track listing, personally selected by Elton, reflects the setlist with highlights from Diamonds, the Ultimate Greatest Hits Collection.

The limited edition 3-CD box set version of Diamonds includes a 72-page hardback book with annotations for the stories behind each track and a set of five postcards of illustrations of Elton John by contemporary artist Richard Kilroy. When bought removed from picture sleeves due to the waxy material, which makes getting a record out a wrestling match. Surface noise throughout the two records, and several hissings and pops here and there, unacceptable for a brand new record. Content sounds, like it was probably mastered from digital files, which would be excepted from a modern compilation. It’s a shame, because these are great songs… but nearly impossible to listen to with this much noise.

I thought I was getting a bargain, but in the end I have a paper weight that will never see the table again.The compilation will be available in three physical formats: a two-CD set, a triple CD limited edition box set and a 2LP gatefold vinyl package.
