The guide is made up of a range of pubs that have impressed volunteers after they've visited each venue and tasted all the beers on offer. I’d encourage everyone to use this Guide to seek out the very best examples of pub excellence and support these locals by visiting them. Entries for each venue give details on factual information such as opening times, food availability and accessibility of the property, as well as subjective information such as the attractiveness of the wallpaper and the welcome visitors are likely to get from the bar staff.From Croydon and Uxbridge to Camberwell and Chiswick, London is officially home to some of the UK's very best pubs.

The anniversary was marked by launches in pubs around the country on 27 October, including in our own Seven Stars in Falmouth which has been in 49 out of the 50 Guides, only missing out in 1974 because our local CAMRA branch in Cornwall was still being formed.

We also ask Privilege Club members to try and keep the contents of the Guide as close to their chest as possible, it can be quite exciting news for some pubs to be included and we don’t like to spoil their surprise party. More than 4,500 pubs were surveyed by independent volunteers with 387 pubs across the West Midlands region covered as part of this year’s guide. American wheat ales don't have the banana and clove flavors of German versions, instead playing up the wheaty-ness with subtle fruit aromas and a touch of spice from the hops.Few beers can claim a history that dates back to the 13th century, but the perfect Pilsner Urquell is just that legendary. Today, Belgium's beer scene is richly varied between independent breweries and Trappist breweries (abbeys that make beer), producing beautiful interpretations of iconic styles. Roots Emporium is like a shrine to Kimberley Brewery, which was the oldest independent brewery in the whole of Nottinghamshire. Mexican lagers are a warm-weather classic, and few have stood the test of time like Modelo Especial.
