About this deal

I've been reading this book with a group of 9 and 10 year olds and have seen first hand how it has helped to get reluctant readers excited about fiction. Join our community to get personalised book suggestions, extracts straight to your inbox, 10% off RRPs, and to change children’s lives. I think my favorite character is Grandpa, who Humza has to learn to appreciate and not just see as an old almost dead guy and Humza’s dad who exaggerates everything and takes his cricket very seriously. I know it's probably not the right thing to say honestly not seeing someone in a book that looked like me definitely meant that I didn't read many books growing up. Recruiting his best friend Umer, his elderly uncle ‘Grandpa’ and Wendy, the smartest girl in school, it seems Humza’s particular musical talent is the only thing that will save his school, town – and possibly the whole world – from potential alien invasion. I kind of like that they are Muslim kids and it appeals to a larger audience, sure something praying or something at some point might have been nice, but it isn’t a book that you’d be expecting spiritual nuggets from, so it is ok.

I’m not saying Umer’s an idiot, but you can only watch someone put their shoes on the wrong feet so many times before you start to wonder. What effect do you think not seeing someone a bit like you in a book had on your reading as a child? Little Badman and the Time-Travelling Teacher of Doom is the second instalment of the Little Badman series, all revolving around eleven-year-old Humza Khan, a wannabe rapper from Eggington who loves to play practical jokes on everyone.

On 9 and 10 July 2013, he was involved in a live shows of Smokey's Barbers at the Pavilion Theatre, Festival Square for the Manchester International Festival. You will find many creative activities based on each book to make reading even more enjoyable and interactive. it was very interesting and it is a very detailed text and the characters were very smart to hack into a computer. Humza Mohammed Khan is an 11 year old Pakistani kid in Britain who thinks of himself as the next big rapper, Little Badman. The content and ambition of the show remains the same: to give every pupil the opportunity to engage with authors and illustrators in their own classroom using the power of the internet.Such is Little Badman’s gloriously entertaining voice, which drives this school-set mystery and goes up a few notches when he’s in rapping mode (there’s no question that his rhymes are sick).

Evil teacher geniuses and giant killer hamsters (see previous Little Badman adventures for details) are nothing compared to starting a new school. When one by one, starting with Miss Crumble, the teachers at the school start having accidents they are replaced by substitute teachers in the form of Pakistani Aunties.Humza as a character is completely hilarious and as the story is told from his perspective I really enjoyed the way his character was shown through the vocabulary chosen. The goal of the Aunties appears to be to fatten the children up so at first the children are ecstatic with the changes in the cafeteria menu! As such, it comes heartily recommended for 8+ year-olds who want to be wildly entertained by a cracking lead character, with sweetness coming courtesy of the theme of friendship, alongside the eponymous aunties’ sugary snacks. I was always making people laugh when I was a kid, that's what I was good at, that's why I became a comedian. There's a quick rapped recap at the start (good luck if you're reading it aloud) which gives you some backstory to Humza, but aside from that this is a completely fresh story.
