Photograph: Bettmann Archive ‘Suspected of duplicity and lies’ even now: Agatha Christie at home in Devon, January 1946. The majority of the stories were good and managed to capture bits and pieces of the nuances of Agatha Christie's Miss Marple but adding a freshness to it that was so inviting. And though the book takes her frowning at people for saying racist things, I don't think Miss Marple as Christie wrote her would have even batted an eyelash. There is a connection to Christie's novel, A Caribbean Mystery, as it is mentioned that Miss Marple had solved a mystery in the Caribbean community of Notting Hill in London, UK.

Her books have sold over a billion copies in English with another billion in over 100 foreign languages. It feels as though their only familiarity with Miss Marple is through the television adaptations rather than the original stories themselves. For example, Miss Marple learns of a perplexing disappearance during a chance encounter on a train journey in Kate Mosse’s The Mystery of the Acid Soil, whereas Ruth Ware evokes the spirit of the classic ‘Christie for Christmas’ and presents a puzzling theft that occurs against a charming festive background in Miss Marple’s Christmas. It's said that each author will re-imagine Miss Marple through their own unique perspective while also staying true to the conventions of the genre. While it may offer little in the way of startling revelations, where Worsley’s book excels is in bringing a broader historical perspective to Christie’s life and work, and her enthusiasm is infectious. Lo mejor es que ninguna de las autoras intenta sobrepasar a la maestra, sino que rezuman respeto por su creación.

It seemed a little silly, although it was very well constructed as a story, with believable characters. The collection is authorised by Agatha Christie Ltd and is seen as a means to introduce a new generation of readers to Agatha Christie's to the exploits of her famous detective Jane Marple. The Second Murder at the Vicarage" by Val McDermid (4 stars)-McDermid obviously read and took notes on Murder at the Vicarage and this second story follows the same type of narration in that book. One (male) journalist even suggested that she had deliberately set out to frame her husband for murder. Como en el caso de las colecciones de relatos cortos de la propia autora original, hay historias mejores que otras. Each chapter (apart from the the introductions) are the individual stories and are introduced at the beginning of each Chapter. ABOUT 'MARPLE: TWELVE NEW MYSTERIES': A brand-new collection of short stories featuring the Queen of Mystery’s legendary detective Jane Marple, penned by twelve remarkable bestselling and acclaimed authors. Jean Kwok is the New York Timesand internationally bestselling author of Girl in Translationand Mambo in Chinatown. Given that she was “born” in a short story, it seems only fitting that this new collection of Miss Marple works should be comprised of short stories (though if the folks in charge of Christie's estate want to authorise some full-length novels, we'll happily read those, too).

This charming collection by HarperCollins is set to publish on September 15, 2022 and should satisfy fans of “Miss Jane Marple” old and new!

In fact, I think I’ve only read one original Agatha Christie Miss Marple, although I have read several of her other murder mysteries. I love everything Agatha Christie and while I have enjoyed her short stories in the past I prefer the novels because of the gradual unraveling of the mystery and the analysis of the characters involved, which is hard to do in a story that spans thirty-odd pages. Marking 45 years since the publication of Agatha Christie's last Miss Marple novel, 'Marple: Twelve New Stories', a collection of ingenious stories by acclaimed authors who also happen to be Christie devotees. Miss Marple was first introduced to readers in a story Agatha Christie wrote for The Royal Magazine in 1927 and made her first appearance in a full-length novel in 1930’s The Murder at the Vicarage.

She would have to go eventually as all people do but she hoped it would be in a blaze of glory like the burnt out buildings they past. Shortly after the death of her beloved mother, Christie’s husband, Archie, informed her that he was in love with another woman and wanted a divorce. I loved the idea of her meeting a curate and getting caught up in his story of a young lady that he knows who has gone missing. An interesting question occurs to Miss Marple, why doesn't the bride get to give a speech at her own wedding?
