I touched the curing strip all around the point of impact and saw that no resin was still liquid under the strip, removed it, and scrapped off the excess with the razor blade.

The kit works best on round damage not more than one inch in diameter, and cracks not longer than 12 inches. All I wanted this windshield repair kit to do is to minimise the appearance of the crack so that it didn’t distract me while driving almost 500km home on busy, winding roads, as well as try to prevent the crack from spreading and worsening. It's definitely an item to try if you are just trying to get a crack from progressively getting worst.While it might be a permanent option for some minor repairs, I suspect that many content purchasers – such as myself – always saw it as a temporary measure. If the damage is minor enough, it may even be sufficiently permanent to not bother taking professional measures!

On this particular day, my wife and I had tossed up taking the longer route to Queenstown, but as we were heading to a specific event in Queenstown we decided to save time and drive the Crown Range road. Squeeze 3-6 drops of the repair resin (drops may increase depending on the extent of the damage) into the resin chamber.However, because of the way you have to cut the bottle top off to use it, I don’t think it is all that practical to re-use. So on to the problem - in a nutshell the self adhesive pads supplied are not closed cell foam which means that when you try to put the resin under a slight vacuum to draw any air out of the chip air can be drawn from the edg es of the foam and into the little chamber that you created around the chip. Ultimately this doesn’t matter too much as you just scrape off the excess anyway, but it does create additional mess.

The crack I had was bad enough to be noticeable to me, but definitely not at the ‘catastrophe’ end of the scale. I have seen some stories from people who have used this and similar products that the repair will degrade over time, and that your windshield will be more prone to cracking in the future around the repair site. I managed to get a reasonably good repair in wintertime, but only just, as it wasn't until I got about 30 Min. You can also use Rain-X on Shower Doors, or on any glass doors or windows in your home, for more amazing water-beading magic! You can still see were the original " Bulls Eyes " cracks, which in my case, were two close to each other.In the photo below you can see where the gravel impacted – which looks like a chip mark – with the crack radiating out from either side.

The new and improved formula helps anti-fogging protection, and even works well under high humidity conditions - ideal for reducing condensation on interior glass and windows whilst you’re driving on colder, damper days.The crack is definitely still visible to the naked eye BUT you need to be looking for it to find it, and it is much less distracting in terms of interrupting my field of view. When you compare this next image below to the image above of the crack (before the repair) you can see that there is a significant improvement. Prior to using this kit, the crack had lengthened by about 5cm during the 1hr drive across the Crown Ranges – I suspect it would have got much worse on the drive home.
