About this deal
Why can't a Queen, a beautiful and incredibly courageous young woman (one you might have seen somewhere else before! Since I've read The Graveyard Book I wanted to read more books by both Neil Gaiman and Chris Riddell. To anyone reading this, at this point of time you still have 12 more days to listen to this dramatisation of The Sleeper and the Spindle. I knew the plotline already, of course, but even then… I just can’t engage with spoken word stories the same way I can with the written word.

Snow White and Sleeping Beauty, two classic stories have been intertwined and interpreted to create this modern masterpiece. She casts aside her fine wedding clothes, takes her chain mail and her sword and follows her brave dwarf retainers into the tunnels under the mountain towards the sleeping kingdom. This is no Disney-style fantasy for the very young, but instead akin to some of the original, more gruesome tales in the genre, but there is much to engage and thrill the older child. There are also a few more details that make the story more of a journey and that make the ending feel far more wide with possibility. This passage is followed by an image of the dwarfs walking on an underground pathway with a large creature passing by in the background.

Due to the above I didn’t have high expectations upon starting The Sleeper and the Spindle and was pleasantly surprised with the end result of this mashup.I'm sure you've all seen the Chris Riddell illustration of Snow White kissing Sleeping Beauty awake by now, and will have seen this book lauded as LGBT representation.
