Last week Bright Horizons Astley Day Nurseries staff and children alike were celebrating the nurseries completion of refurbishment works. The children will be more focused if you are using a star finger puppet during the song ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’, this gives the children something to look at and if lucky the children may be able to hold it.
Why not use this fantastic resource to teach the Easter Story in a way the whole family can get involved!
First of all, decide what nursery rhymes you would like to include in this sack and start collecting resources for these. The children can each have a butterfly at the start of the story and as their colour is mentioned in our ‘Easter Butterfly Poem’ the child can take their turn in making the butterfly dance and fly! Like you say it must really help with reducing the prep time but also adds a little something extra for the kids.
As the poem continues, the children can keep on joining in, gradually building up the number of butterflies to a big finale with a rainbow of colour! Rhymes are a source of developing literacy and phonic skills, as they offer the ability to read and determine letter sounds.I’ve been to quite a few groups where noone wants to sing and everyone just kind of mumbles – takes the fun out of it a bit!
