About this deal

My favourite character was Maya because she suspected the evil boss lilith from the start even though no-one else did. With grateful thanks to NetGalley, Penguin Random House Children's UK, Chris Smith and Greg James for my copy in exchange for an honest review. Maya’s dad, eccentric scientist Professor Dexter, is trapped in his own dream by the cunning, unpleasant Lilith Delamere. The hilarious voice of Greg and Chris comes through throughout and the idea of an adventure within a dream, a hospital heist and Dream Bandits will really set this book apart from anything else in the market.

It was quite fun to have the narrator speak you, the reader, directly throughout the book definitely added another layer of interaction with the story. The idea of the adventure around and though dreams was fantastic, and the collection of characters were a delight in both the hero and villain stakes. In an outrageous adventure that celebrates imagination and the power of dreams, the jokes come thick and fast and readers are invited to participate in the action. We just found we weren't fully engaged when reading it, and after the first few chapters they abandoned it altogether, suggesting I read it myself rather than out loud. Together they become The Dream Bandits and put together an ingenious and totally bonkers plan to save their parents. But, underlying the humour and surreal goings on, are themes of friendship, faith and facing your fears. The Great Dream Robbery is full of rich language and descriptive paragraphs entwined within the humour. Radio 1 broadcasters and bestselling authors of KID NORMAL - Greg James and Chris Smith - are back with a mind-bending adventure you won't want to wake up from . Featuring a hospital heist, a mattress salesman, hairdressing accessories from a skip, a unicorn singing show tunes, and lots of cows, this witty comedy thriller showcases the resourcefulness and courage of a trio of youngsters known as the Dream Bandits.

The villain isn't as villainous as we first believe, leaving me actually feeling sorry for her - which is great in a slapstick book such as this. But the book is so loooong, due to long winded descriptions, and constant sections of ‘breaking the fourth wall’ where the authors speak to the reader. Falling asleep is the only chance she has to save her dad - the brilliant but slightly odd Professor Dexter. When his daughter Maya visits him in the expensive, secure, private hospital his boss is paying for, all she can do is watch him sleep.Zij vindt het super voor het verhaal, ik voor de vele goed gevonden woordspelingen en beschrijvingen. So many cracking lines of dialogue that had me chuckling away and of course an epic classic Doctor Who concept thrown into the mix.

I knew that underneath all that anger was a tired woman who just wanted to freaking sleep for once but thanks to nightmares and dad she wasn’t able to. There are a variety of fun materials to choose from that are certain to support learners in reading this exciting tale.

There latest book, The Great Dream Robbery, is part science-fiction, part mission impossible, part mystery that needs solving and a whole lot of fun. All this makes The Great Dream Robbery a first-class choice for readers with a wide range of interests. The story was engaging, and I found myself smiling (and laughing out loud) on multiple occasions due to the humour.
