ALL THE FETCH QUESTS; seriously, expect your quest log to a long list of collect 10 of A, 7 of B, 5 of C, and so on. International products have separate terms, are sold from abroad and may differ from local products, including fit, age ratings, and language of product, labeling or instructions. This leaves Nier feeling fresh and unique for quite awhile, but once the shine wears off, you'll find yourself just playing to get it done. These spells include projectiles and large shadowy fists, among others; new spells are acquired in the first half of the game by completing specific battles.

Few games can bring this many vocal tracks without distracting player from in game conversations/cutscenes. Square Enix executive producer Yosuke Saito later commented that "a number of things" related to Nier were in progress, and that an announcement could be due in 2011. Quests reward you with money, materials and weapons, and provide a deeper insight into the world and its inhabitants. The gameplay itself is great fun and feels rewarding, even if it is lacking compared to its counterparts within the genres it ventures into.

After clearing the first ending, you can load your save file to restart from the second half of the game. I'm just not convinced that this grab bag of half-baked ideas and gratuitous filler makes for a great videogame. It's sad that this was Cavia's final game it deserves much more credit than it gets and i couldn't recommend it enough! As with all RPGs though, the story is its biggest component, and this is where the game truly shines. The changing styles, as well as the occasional changes in camera angle and movement, were meant to "accentuate [the] gap between real, modern scenery and the fantasy world" as a tie-in to the game's story.

Armed with a powerful set of magical abilities as well as mighty swords and armor, Nier will do battle alongside a set of formidable allies against waves of dark enemies and giant bosses to discover the truth about the disease, his daughter…and himself. In some rooms and buildings, the camera swings to the side and the main character is restricted to moving as in a two-dimensional platforming environment, while during certain battles the camera pulls up to simulate a top-down shoot 'em up or other video game genres. Players will jump into the title role of the unyielding Nier as he begins his desperate quest to discover a cure for his daughter, Yonah, who is stricken with the deadly Black Scrawl disease. From the graphic/visual standpoint NieR is really under par, sometimes it almost feels like a PS2 game; blend and uninteresting environment, clunky character animation, especially when you are jumping you feel like a dancing gorilla.

I had been looking for this game a while, it's hard to find in the UK (and expensive when you do find one) so I happily bought this US import since the ps3 is region free. In addition to the main plotline, Nier includes numerous sidequests, which give the player experience points and money, as well as fishing and farming segments.

In 2015, Jeffrey Matulef of Eurogamer characterized Nier as "the rare game that gets better with age". Okabe was brought onto the project when the concept for the game was first being devised, and worked intermittently on the soundtrack for the next three years until its release. Driven to protect his only family Yonah, he was the first Gestalt, and has combined her with the Replicant Yonah.

I loved it so much i also purchased the official soundtrack and artbook, unfortunatly Nier is a very underrated game, don't let the reviews get in the way of you missing out on such a gem. Nevertheless after Nier Automata [best game in 2017 for me] I decided to give it a try once more and bought it again.Shadowlord: Yonah… All I brought you was pain… Years of painful, lingering memories… I couldn'/'t do it… I couldn't rescue you… I'm so sorry… I failed… Your father failed… / Prologue Yonah: Here, Dad! NIER might not the revolutionary title that it inspired to be, but it has some moments that make the downtime worth the effort.
