The Vango Icarus 500 DLX – the current model at least – is equipped with the 2nd generation TBS II system. The sleeping area can be divided into two bedrooms, giving you some privacy and separation from the kids. Normally, these 3-berth master bedrooms would never accommodate 3 adults; however, in this instance, the Vango Icarus 500DLX just might. The Vango Icarus 500DLX's space and simplicity make it a very popular weekend tent for family camping or festival visits. Makes no sense to me saying this, I have broken the rules and rebelled and went camping for 1 week in it with zero issue, I could have easily stopped for longer but the wife wanted to get back for her work. It stood up like a dream to brisk winds by the Solent and within 2 weeks we were in a damp wooded valley by the Tamar and it kept out 12 hours of torrential rain. The front and side doors are fully meshed, while the bedroom doors are part mesh, so it’s relatively easy to keep the tent well-ventilated. There are quite a few options, that’s why I prefer 5-berth tents over the 4-berth tents, and, in some cases, they can be more versatile than a 6-berth tent. Used it 4/5 times last year for long weekends in all kinds of weather the British summer can throw at you, without any problems at all.NEGATIVES: Front door hooks are high up so I extended them with a hair band loop to reach door toggle more easily. It's just the right size for me and my daughter because we can have our own rooms and the living area is perfect for our kit and a couple of chairs. I also spray it with Fabsil every year and it's never leaked, even in some pretty horrendous weather. This also makes polyester prone to condensation building up on the inside of the flysheet, which can soak the bedrooms walls quickly even if it has not rained. We used it every year in Ireland and for the last 3 years it also served us well on our trips to France. The groundsheet is fully sewn-in and has a 10,000mm HH waterproof rating, which is outstanding even among other Vango tents, yet alone compared to other manufacturers.The Icarus 500DLX is a quick easy to pitch tunnel tent and features large diamond clear windows situated in the living area allowing light to flood into the tent and create a great view whatever the weather. its very spacious and sturdy, a lot of storage space and extra pockets allow you to be more organised and saves you the hassle of putting things on the ground.

The canvas is still in good condition, we've needed to make minor repairs to an internal zip and one of the rear elastic fixings. A side mesh door allows for insect-free airflow, and the parallel-zip front door can extend out as a canopy using awning poles (not included).Easy to pitch, ‘as one’ structure with generous living area, this tent will create an ideal base for your weekend adventures. This also allowed us to put our child to bed but have space between us and her without disturbing her with lighting or noise whilst we played cards.
