Stretching the creature afterwards and watching the glitter move around and shift is quite mesmerising, and becomes a great toy to play with either idly or as an action figure. This latest series of Goo Jit Zu figures, each contains a goo filled orb, which when squished and squashed, bursts and fills the figure with a contrasting colour.

The kids, especially my nine-year-old daughter, are big fans of the Heroes of Goo Jit Zu, loving the squishy and stretchy play and the fun characters. Crushing the core take a bit of effort, so don’t worry, you have no chance of doing it accidentally. As with the other Heroes of Goo Jit Zu ranges, are durable with stretchy bodies arms ( up to three times their normal size) and legs that go back to their original size. The heroes will need all the help they can get when they face Rock Jaw and his new companion Corruptagon – the Ultra Rare villain with a light-up Core! Having seen on the packaging that the core appeared to contain little orbs, I was a bit confused by this transformation.

The core is a squishy ball inside the middle of the Goo Shifter that needs to be crushed to release the goo formation. If you don’t already know, Heroes of Goo Jit Zu are super stretchy, squishy heroes that are incredibly fun to play with for ages 4 and upwards. You find that the Goo inside the heroes starts to change colour or formation creating an interactive experience and a wow moment. Push down to stretch the wheels out and move along in "Speed Mode" or pull up the chassis and launch an attack in "Strike Mode" and launch missiles from the shark jaws! Just three years since that launch and several incarnations of Goo Jit Zu figures later, we have the Heroes of Goo Jit Zu Goo Shifters.

Thrash and his fellow Goo Jit Zu Heroes Blazagon, Pantaro, Tyro and their new member Bengal all have a "Goo-forming" Core! They’re still super-stretchy and gooey, but when they’re brand new, you don’t yet know what’s in the core. Blazagon, Thrash, Pantaro and Tyro are back and have a “goo-forming” core plus there are new Goo Shifters Heroes to transform. In Heroes of Goo Jit Zu, a meteor crash transforms a group of zoo animals into squishy, gooey and stretchy superheroes with special powers. Under Blazagon's chest is a core (capsule) that when crushed "Powers him up" and makes him glow in the dark.However, after being impressed with the “Crush The Core” no persuasion was needed, especially when he remembered the spring-back actions on the arms when stretched. It adds a great new interactive element which my nine-year-old adored and my twelve-year-old announced as ‘cool’ an extremely high compliment from this pre-teen.
