About this deal
It would be a slap in the face to those who kept film alive through its toughest days, and it would shoot the entire industry in the foot by turning off thousands of prospective new shooters. The wide exposure latitude and dynamic range, which to be fair most other consumer grade films have too, make it highly unlikely your results are going to be over or underexposed, even on a bright beach. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. It is so important, as a fellow shooter, to remember our roots, and I think of that each time I pick up a film camera or two and go out shooting (even if a D-SLR is along as well). In terms of grain quality, the Fujicolor c200 definitely features fine grain, although I wouldn’t go so far as to say that it has “the kind of image quality and clarity as you’d expect from an ISO 100 film”.
Both brilliant, both worth shooting, and IMHO, neither is quite as good as GC Ultramax 400 – which costs round about the same and is just plain phenomenal. They also mean C200 is ideal for point ‘n’ shoot cameras that might not meter the light so well or be more restricted with their shutter speed. However, we’re all special in our own way, and I think a case could be made for C200 actually being special too. They give a way to shoot with all the convenience of the latest electronics and optics, but with an analog output reminiscent of 35mm manual photography.
Since I prefer consistent and reliable results, I used a Sekonic L-358 incident light meter to measure exposure. Everything I do and what I learn along the way gets shared on here, to inform and inspire you to get out and shoot as much - and as well - as you can too. And the greens share the typical beautiful Fuji look, which makes shooting C200 in gardens or outdoors in general a great experience.
That being said, I dread the day that I can’t recommend C200 or any other consumer film because they’ve all been discontinued, and it looks that’ll happen sooner rather than later.
