About this deal

Nancy’s mother and stepfather have been brutally murdered, and Martin her stepbrother accused of the crime.

The effect of Coming to Find You is to make the reader realise there is no clear-cut morality and that the choices we make are not always within our control. It seemed that every time she did something bad it was really only an accident, or she was made to do it.Conversely, there’s one thing that affects Nancy for a lot of her life which I find a tad weak as I think I expected more. But she gets there she is found out not only by the journalists but also her ex-fiancé Alex, wanting to find out the truth of what went on with her parents that fatal day. The house hides a lot of history, Nancy finds writing in the wardrobe on the top floor Maisie was here.

As a reader you are equally excited and intrigued to read either story which makes the book unputdownable. The Sidmouth setting is highly effective with a well balanced claustrophobia weighed against a strong sense of community. I loved the dual timeline aspect of this book and the twists kept me hooked right to the final page. In the aftermath of a family tragedy, she retreats to a family home, ‘Tall Chimneys’ on the coast in Sidmouth, Devon. Most of the ‘Jane Corry-isms’ were present: the South-West-seaside-setting; an unreliable female narrator; a dark secret; shifting time and perspective; a brief jaunt to to prison, and of course a murder.I look forward to reading other books by this author and can certainly recommend this one to others. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Fleeing the trial to her grandmother’s old home Tall Chimneys, Nancy struggles with the decisions she made and the consequences that follow. We often forget that the people in history also made assumptions about their futures that could be wrong and could have serious consequences.

Like everyone else it seems, I was thoroughly surprised by the WWII historical fiction pieces taking up a solid 2/3 of this book. Additionally, there is a second storyline not mentioned in the summary surrounding Nancy’s grandmothers friend Elizabeth, the previous owner of Tall Chimneys. Especially with something from the past that has haunted her, that changed her life, leaving her unable to trust. On publication day, I read a review of Coming To Find You by Jane Corry and immediately skipped to my computer and requested a review copy.

She chooses to seek refuge in her late grandmother’s house, Tall Chimneys, which is situated in the quiet seaside village of Sidmouth. This book will have you on the edge of your seat wondering just what happened to Nancy's mom and step-dad! I loved the way morality is presented because here we have characters we should abhor as killers and liars, and yet they are people the author makes us care about. It takes the most intriguing direction and it leaves you with a multitude of questions which is both fascinating and immersive.
