Matured in Spanish ex sherry casks this whisky is for lovers of rich and fruity Speyside single malt whiskies.

Obviously the cheapest 25 year old whiskey and for that it’s 5 stars, I’ve wanted to try a 25 year whiskey for a long time but they are all very expensive, that being said this is my first glenfarclas so can’t compare it to other versions but if I could afford it I would daily drink it (oh to be rich). Even to my inexperienced palate when it comes to old whiskies, the age is here on the palate as well, even if it’s been toned down by the lower ABV.

This Glenfarclas single malt has been ageing for 25 years, maturing exclusively in 100% Oloroso sherry casks. While other distilleries just down the road in Dufftown sell much more and are much more widely known, Glenfarclas for me has always had more substance and interest, and not just because of the little extra ABV we get with several of their expressions of their core range. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remainder of the Terms shall continue in full force and effect. Dried apple rings liberally spread with blackcurrant jam and sprinkled with brown sugar sit in the middle.Times may have changed, but it’s what has stayed the same that makes Glenfarclas unique: the six generations of Grant family pride and the revered quality of their famous Single Malt Whisky. Aromas of raisins, butterscotch and sweet spices fill the nose, and the palate offers notes of dark chocolate, orange peel, banana, raisins and caramel. It bubbles up, crystal clear, from the underlying granite on the slopes of the Speyside mountain, Ben Rinnes, to supply the distillery below.

As with many of the Glenfarclas releases, the 25 Year Old has a slight sherry smell but more complexity than previous releases. Complex, yet refined, delicately peated, with tempting aromas of marmalade, honey, freshly ground coffee, sherry and nuts.
