About this deal

After starting his career writing about music, films and video games for various places, Matt spent many years as a technology, PC and video game journalist before writing about tabletop games as the editor of Tabletop Gaming magazine. If you don't mind getting a little bit silly with the people you're with and don't mind coming into physical contact with other players, you're going to have an absolute blast with this game. The eponymous publisher of Exploding Kittens, Throw Throw Burrito and other party games announced that it had landed Happy Salmon over the summer, acquiring the 2016 title from original publisher North Star Games. The game also come in a wonderfully quirky salmon carry bag which make it perfect for travelling with! Happy Salmon elicits fun in a way most games find hard to do, and that is fine, other games don’t need to.

A player can almost always find a partner in Pit, and even when they can’t there are plays to be made (splitting a set, changing the collected suit). A game of Happy Salmon sees a group of people standing around a table shouting the same word over and over again, until they move onto the next action when that word will be repeated on a loop instead. Thought goes into such an evening, set-up is done well in advance, some is assigned the task of snack bringer. Also perfect for convincing friends who claim they “don’t like playing games” that they actually love them. Monster Match is unique among speed games for one simple reason: more than 1 person can get a match every round.PayPal Credit and PayPal Pay in 3 are trading names of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH. As part of the announcement, the studio said it would re-release Happy Salmon “with an Exploding Kittens twist” later this year.

And even though the game is still loud, the loudness is hyper-condensed to a brief two-minute burst where people just mostly shout the name of an action before quickly moving on. The Exploding Kittens edition instead comes in a conventional cardboard box, with no mention of its cards being additionally water-resistant. Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, Northern Ireland and the Scottish Highlands) may take longer to reach you. Besides, one of my friends (who's won the most games of Happy Salmon) mostly won because he was good at figuring out when to move on from the card he was holding - he won not because his deck is shuffled the best, but because he's good at figuring out when the thing he's holding doesn't work with what the others have.

Subject to regulation by the Financial Conduct Authority and limited regulation by the Prudential Regulation Authority. Happy Salmon, one of the greatest party games ever made - not just my subjective opinion, cold hard fact - has resurfaced with a new remake from the makers of Exploding Kittens. Mostly when I play games I want to relax, and beat the snot out of my stupid friends through the cardboard medium.

Happy Salmon gets around both of those by being very, very brief and by inherently being about cooperation. Beginner-Friendly, Just a Few Seconds to Learn- Each card has a simple action on it that requires a partner to complete. If there are more than two players who yell the same action, only the two players who actually do the action together are successful at the action. There is nothing fishy going on here, for a quick, silly and light game that children and adults can play competitively together, this is one of the best options around.Happy Salmon is a cute little game, contained on a deck of cards, and cleverly packaged in a neoprene Salmon-shaped pouch. Your card will have one of four actions on it and all you have to do is find another player at the table with a matching action and perform it with them. But really, I just love Happy Salmon so much because it has generated some of my favourite memories of me playing games ever.

If you don’t want to own a party game that comes packaged inside a fish then I’m not sure what you do want out of life, hopefully learning more about Happy Salmon will convince you. The cards have cheerful depictions of fish indicating what you have to do on each card, but I reckon most people would understand without them! Sometimes though I want to run around like an idiot and shout silly phrases while striking people (sort of), on these days I turn to Happy Salmon. During the initial wave of hype I wrote the game off as a gimmick way below my serious game collection, and then I started needing lighter games for more players. When I went to my first boardgame night with all new people, they suggested I play one round of this before I left.
