e17: December 18th, it looks like Lian Li is making a 90 degree adapter for 12VHPWR with a thermal pad and microcontroller that monitors temperature and can cut power if it detects that things are getting a little too toasty. No further information regarding pricing nor release date available at this time.

How we picked

If you are building a silent small form factor PC and want to keep the noise as minimum as possible, then you should get the SilverStone NJ450-SXL power supply. It is a fanless SFX-L PSU, which means it does not come with a fan and uses only heatsinks for cooling. The absence of a fan makes this power supply completely silent (0dBA noise) in operation.
