About this deal

Mundane Utility: As the players build the bonfire that will be the centerpiece of the climactic ritual, Snuff spends a paragraph describing its esoteric significance and the ways it can become involved in the night's magical events. Then he adds that it's also useful for disposing of inconvenient evidence and keeping off the autumn chill. First of all, and the narration was brilliant. All of the voices were distinct, believable, and very well acted. Heroic Sacrifice: Larry Talbot wrestles Roberts into the Gateway, but is pulled through himself. Though it's worth noting that, due to his unique condition, Larry is the only one of the players besides possibly the Count who could really survive on the other side, and for that matter might even be able to do some damage. And he's most likely be relieved to end up someplace where it won't be people his moon-mad form is killing.

Perhaps a spoiler warning isn’t needed for a book this old, but I’ve known enough people who have never read it (or heard of it) that I’ll just leave… A new form of counting :D well now I know why does my dog have to pee on every bush while going for a walk. :DLarry Talbot has gained a measure of control over his condition, and can transform into a wolf at will at any time of month (although he still has to endure an uncontrolled transformation at full moon).

We laughed, sat enraptured, and, because this was a very tiny crowd, sitting around him in one of the tiniest meeting rooms in the hotel, we all got to talk with him. Graverobbing: With morbid relish. Not only do all the Players, good guys or bad, engage in the practice, but one night they all raid the same cemetery at the same time, and commence trading the excavated body parts needed for their various rituals and schemes. By throwing them to one another, no less. "Oi, here's that liver yer wantin'. Catch!" The Audible description is really good. It's difficult to write a good description that doesn't give away everything. Zelazny had a great skill in his writing and his use of language, puns, turns of phrase, style, etc are perfect. It feels like it is a dog speaking to you. It's very well done. And having once spent several hours talking to Roger Zelazny and enjoying his delightful sense of humor, I can absolutely attestthat this book is an excellent representative of his power over the English language.Which begins the battle of wills for those who wish for this to happen, while others try to prevent it. Nightwind, the owl companion to Morris and McCab (two graverobbers who might be based on fictionalized versions of Burke and Hare, serial killers in 1800s Edinburgh) I also couldn't help but think this is the kind of book that I'll bet Gaiman wishes he'd written. And I've no doubt he's read it...at least once. Underneath the spell-preparing graveyard shenanigans is the building of a potentially deadly conflict. Preparations make for strange bedfellows, and Snuff finds himself relying on Ms. Greymalk the cat. He also interacts with a variety of other animal companions to the primary, somewhat questionably human, players. So, prepared for a disappointment, I began reading. My first thought was how surprisingly accessible the book was. A Night in the Lonesome October is written in short chapters, with each chapter being a day. Starting on October 1 st, it finishes (logically enough) on October 31 st.
