About this deal

People seem to only focus on the 3 synths, but let's not forget the effects which are all plugins as well. inMusic owns Air Music Technology - not Akai - it's just the same parent company. As such, there are Akai branded effects on the current generation of MPC's, so it makes sense that these Akai branded effects show up as their own line of plug-ins. Referring to the Air developed plugins as "third party plugin" makes complete sense to differentiate between Air branded and Akai branded, IMHO. The max recording resolution in standalone mode is 24 bit, 44.1kHz. When using the MPC One in controller mode the recording resolution can be set up to 24 bit, 96 kHz.

I honestly wish they would have kept making controllers for the software while adding new features instead of making people believe a lesser product is good just because you don’t have to connect it to the computer. We’re now going to bounce this sequence to create an audio sample from it. To do this in the hardware UI simply go to MAIN> top pencil icon> EDIT> BOUNCE TO SAMPLEMost of what comes on the unit is drum programs and hits, representing various urban and dance styles. I've raved about MPC drum programs before: they range across up to 64 pads and feature up to four sound layers per pad. Drum programs have their own internal mixer and can use any of the many internal plug-in effects on individual pad channels or the whole kit. It’s not currently possible to install third party expansions to the built-in 16GB internal drive, so instead we have to install expansions to an 'attached' disk. This can be an SD card, a USBdriveconnected to any of the USB ports or a SATA diskinstalled inside the MPC/Force. When you load that program into your project the MPC realises that all the samples are already there in memory and immediately attaches them to your program. This means you don’t have to spend any time creating keygroups, assigning samples, or setting up root notes; the program does everything for you – but it only works if you don’t change the name of the bounced sample (nor any other names in the templates!). Step 8: Tidy Sample Names

For internal storage, the MPC One has 4GB onboard. There are 2GB of studio-quality sounds preloaded and another 2GB for you to work with. You can use the USB port or SD slot to add additional storage. Give the Akai MPC One the classic look with these wood side panels with tilt setup made from real walnut. Walnut is the same wood used in hight end Bentley and Rolls Royce dashboards! If the ‘Expansions’ folder already exists, simply add your new expansion inside it. In the above example you can see that there are already a number of expansions already stored inside the Expansions folder. All done – you’re now ready to clone your next plugin patch by repeating steps 2-10 as many times are you need to. Customizing Your Sequence Template In MAIN, start to increase the BPM from the default 100.00. If you increase the tempo to 200 BPM (i.e. twice the tempo), you’ll get notes that are half as long, i.e. 2.5 seconds. Now I am working with an MPC live and some great electric rhode-piano VSTs (often and before your above tutorial only in controler-mode). The given tutorial does not realy work in those cases, because when you working with some rhode plugins, they have those multiple dynamic and velocity levels (as you already mentioned above at the advanced multisamples options!) which bring out different styles of tones, the harder you hit the hammer, guess you know! This is a very great tutorial, as you always do. I am with you since the late 1990s as I was working round with my 2000XL and I was always reading your tutorials and advices, thank you for that, I really appreciate your work! Now this workflow can be completed entirely in the computer GUI (there’s one task that has to be done in the GUI) but on the whole I’m going to explain the workflow from the hardware/touchscreen UI as that’s what most MPC X and MPC Live users are used to. Interaction with the instruments, like any of the MPC's main views, can be directly through the touch-screen, or via the four physical 'Q-Link' knobs, or by tapping any parameter or field and using the main encoder. The Q-links can be banked through different targets with dedicated buttons, but you can simply touch any on-screen element and the knobs will jump to that section.

The next tweak you could perform is to remove those really high notes from the sequence. After all, this is a bass, not a lead so do we really need all those squeaky notes in banks G and H?It's a shame the excellent Hype synth has not made its way from the Force to the MPCs yet. I hope that will happen. Akai have also been teasing some drum synths that will bring dynamically generated sounds to the Drum Programs, which have previously been entirely sample based. Sampling

Make sure ‘ All Samples‘ is selected on the left and you should see all your chops on the right (the samples ending in ‘ Sl1‘, ‘ Sl2‘ etc). Each one of these is a note from your multisampled Hybrid patch. Step 7: Import Your Instrument Program Template Maybe you have another of your great templates which covers that problem and provides the oppurtunity to multisample VSTs covering different velocity levels. Not necessary, no, although some people have experienced glitches and bugs with Autosampler when trying to sample some VSTs (Kontakt seems to be the most commonly reported). This method doesn’t seem to have that problem. But these days Autosampler should be the first port of call. Reply THANK YOU for this! I like my Live a lot, but coming from Maschine, I feel like the default instruments are really weak. I’ve been wondering if this was possible, and BOOM, here it is. Grabbed some old Korg stuff, some Zebra. Just awesome. This article is INVALUABLE!!! Reply The MPC One supports USB 2.0 connections and ships with a USB 2.0 cable to connect to your computer for controller mode.

It’s a bug in the MPC Software, no matter what settings you have, the bounce is always 16 bit. I’ve reported it several times. Reply No, you can’t run plugins in standalone mode, that’s why I developed this workflow. If you need dedicated multisampled acoustic drum kits for the Live/X we make plenty: http://www.mpc-samples.com/section.php/79/0/mpc-x-mpc-live-tutorials-sounds-expansions/ Reply First, give your new keygroup program a more useful name, for example, ‘Hybrid Analog Square’, or if you want to use Akai’s tagging standard, ‘ Lead-Hybrid Analog Square‘. Expand your sound library with four new instrument plugins, complete with stunning presets that will inspire. The new instrument plugins include AIR Hype AIR Mellotron, AIR Solina and WayOutWare Odyssey. The plugins span everything from cutting-edge synthesis to classic emulations of legendary synths. The instruments feature powerful interactive sound engines complete with built-in processing and in-depth controls.
