About this deal

for 100ml, Fenwicks is good value for a lubricant that works so well across such a variety of riding conditions. The chain has lost the shiny clean look, but it's a dull grey rather than oily black or covered in crusty gloop as it might have become if I'd used a wet lube.

You’ll be able to see flecks of wax on the chain with a good wax-based lube like the ones recommended here. Of course, that has at least as much to do with the bike set-up as the lubricant, but I certainly had the impression that the whole drivetrain was behaving at its best. Wax-based lubes tend to last longer than oil-based options, so if you know you’re a lazy bike mechanic, opt for wax.If you bounce between settings, look for an all-around chain lube, though be prepared for frequent cleaning and reapplication, especially after particularly dusty or muddy rides. WEEE (The Waste Electrical and electronic Equipment) Directive is UK law that governs the disposal and recycling of all electrical items. It’s a bit more expensive up-front, and it requires a multi-step application, but you apply sparingly so one bottle should last you a really, really long time.

If your waxed chain only lasts one or two rides, you are doing something wrong or riding in the rain.We wanted something that would perform in mixed weather conditions yet be easy to clean off when needed. This wet lube shares the same issue as other wet lubes: It requires frequent chain wipe-downs, cleanings, and reapplications.

In total, of the 71 products, 12 products cost more than Fenwicks Professional Chain Lube and 56 cost less. With the added benefit of being readily biodegradable Fenwicks Chain Lube its great to have in your tool box. You probably don’t need to be slathering ultra-expensive, long lasting lube on that bike because you’re just gonna drip more on between laps.Could you please make either of the unscrewing threads opposed to each other, as I keep unscrewing the complete top and then emptying the bottle over my wheel. All that said, if your a downhill free-rider, constantly getting immersed in mud, or if you are a racer, you might want to pay more attention to the chain. The advantages are 1) that it is much cleaner and does not share Dumonde’s horribly noisy endpoint once you “ride through” the lube, and 2) it is SO clean if you wipe it after application.

All Conditions Chain Lube | Fenwicks Bike

I wax my chain, the good old fashioned way by melting it, and I get hundreds of miles of riding before I need to re-wax. Often, people will skip the degreasing step and just lube the chain, counting on the lube and subsequent wipe-down to remove most of the built-up gunk. It's a fussy lube when it comes to the cleanliness of the chain and getting the amount of lubricant just so, but the same is true of other wax lubes. If you want the same lube that’s put many a World Tour cyclist atop a podium, this is it…just be careful, it drips out really fast! You will need to first check with your employer, but you can potentially save up to 40% on gear through the scheme.

After every ride, give your chain a quick wipe down to dry it off and remove buildup, especially if it got wet during your ride. Wouldn't it be good if one chain lube covered all eventualities, and you didn't have to worry about choosing the right lubricant for the season or weather? I use my bicycle mostly for commuting to work, and I have neither the time nor the desire to regularly clean my chain. While the original WD40 itself shouldn’t be used as a chain lube, WD40 Specialist Bike Wet Chain Lube is a great, inexpensive option for those who often ride through mud or in the rain.
